The NEW iPhone 4S Discussion

Each jailbreak I've done has been tremendously easy and the rewards are sufficient to counteract any negatives from having to wait to update iOS until the latest iOS has been jailbroken.

I get it, but there is really NOTHING I want to do that I can't do with stock iOS 5.

I might would do it to get Siri on my 4, but that is the only reason I would, and am not even sure I would for that. Like rocky, there isnt anything (else) I can think of (off the top of my head) that I cant do stock that JB would fix.

Yeah, but I am guessing you'll be exchanging for a 4S within 14 days. :)

I like it just for the additional lock screen functionality. Not to mention text message quick reply without having to fully exit the app I'm in. And the increased flexibility with organizing icons on a given screen or folder.

I got siri to answer some of the questions I found online. The Pod Bay Doors, one, and the Who's Your Daddy? (You are, can we get back to work now."

Beautiful.

And she just told me she doesn't do Knock Knock jokes.

But then I asked her, "Tell me a joke Siri"

The response: "Two iphones walk into a bar... I forget the rest."

I think the dual core processor AND the very impressive camera would also future-proof the phone for a bit longer than the typical Todd-phone if :)

Haha, I just dont see what I am missing out on, for $100, IF I could get that (siri) added otherwise. Im pleased with the camera, and its already "buttery smooth" ;)

We will see what happens in the next week or so.

It is smooth. :) But you wouldn't be the undisputed king of phone whores if you DIDN'T at least consider moving up to it. :)

Kinda sounds like Tim the tool man Taylor... Details aren't important just MORE POWER!

If Siri becomes easily ported over to the iPhone 4, those who balked at the 4S will be further justified in their initial disappointment with the announcement and in waiting for 5.

The interesting thing is while I joke with Todd, I suspect iOS is so well optimized that the speed issues may be non issues on the 4. Because it is still smooth as... :)

I am very impressed with the camera though. Blows away the crap one on the droid x. And the video is excellent too. Right now siri is a novelty, but I expect "she" will grow far more valuable too.

I got 3 of the new IPhones. Ordered them over the web on the "first night."
Two activations went off without a hitch.
The third was more of a problem, because I was applying the "upgrade" from my daughter's line to my wife's phone. I didn't realize that it would nuke my daughter's sim, when the new phone was activated- I thought that they would just be able to flop the numbers between the 2 units. Of course, my daughter is at the other end of the State at school. Anyhow, It took 3 AT&T visits, 2 new sim cards, and a lot of stress, but it's all working fine now. Love the phone. Siri is way cool!

... Oh yeah, I did save an upgrade for the IPhone 5 when it comes out.....

Cracked! Siri has been successfully ported to an iPhone 4 | VentureBeat

What many consider to be Apple‘s most exciting feature in the iPhone 4S, vocal assistant feature Siri, can in fact, be ported to the iPhone 4.

According to 9to5 Mac, developer Steven Troughton-Smith was able to port the software on his iPhone 4 after first installing the files for Siri and Springboard, which controls how the iOS home screen acts. For example, it is Springboard that allows your icons to wiggle after you’ve held one down for a certain amount of time. Once he had the files in place, he successfully began porting.

Question. Didn't want to start a whole thread with just this one question.

Will GPS still work on an inactive iPhone? Will you still be able to do APP updates as well?
