The dreaded 2 hopper 3 conundrum

Hi gang, I;m new here, I searched but couldn't really find an answer on this. Friday I ordered 2 hopper 3's from dish, they said no problem. Today, tech came out with 2 hopper duo's. Tech said work order was for 2 duo's, but he did have 2 hopper 3's on the truck, and he had done that installation several times. He had me call dish to have the work order changed. Dish refused to let 2 hoppers on the same account at all, saying if I needed al of that I would need at least 6 joeys as well. I only have two tvs. I share a house with my aging parents, and sharing a hopper isn't practical with the 200 limit on programmed timers. I search the internet, there are people that have had this done, the equipment is made to do it, is there any way to get this done? I pay 225 per month (3 722k with all of the channels), and dish said it didn't matter how much I paid, or how long I was with the company. I asked if I paid for all of the equipment myself, would they hook it up and activate it. Still no, then a transfer to the cancellation department. No loyalty deppartment at all. So I released the tech, and called the loyalty department directly and got the big no again, twice. They are ready to lose me as a customer over 2 hopper 3's which I am glad to pay for. Any help or guidance in this? Thanks

You have to get 1 Hopper 3 from Dish and buy the 2nd Hopper 3 from where ever you can find the best price. There have been a few threads that mentioned places to purchase one on here in recent months. Dish WILL allow it, but it's a crap-shoot getting a CSR that knows what they're doing

It is weird that the work order called for two Hopper Duos, since Dish supposedly is not allowing that on residential accounts at all. You would have to have a commercial account to get two Hopper Duos. So, Dish's system had no trouble authorizing that setup, yet they could not authorize two Hopper 3's. Like I said, weird.

Sounds like calling dish and getting a hopper three, and buying the new switch and hopper 3 from dish depot is the next plan

I recommend Mark at DishDepot.com

Fast shipping and great service I have did business with them many times.

I got both of my Hopper 3’s from him

Of course, I installed it all my self.
Is there much to the installation other than a swap out? I'm definitely interested. Hate paying $12 a month for a three year old hopper.

You will need a DPH (DishPro Hybrid) LNBF with the Hopper 3. Do you have any Joeys? If so, you’ll have to change out the nodes you have now for hybrid hub(s). You’ll be able to use the same dish antenna you have now.

No Joey's, just the 2 hoppers, when talking to the local tech, they are just going to put in a new dish, switch , wires, everything.
