The Blacklist

I'm thinking that instead of betting on sports, maybe I should bet on this show.

Betting that Liz will be a no show again seems to be a safe bet.

Even though the episode outline has been announced, I'd venture to bet on:

OK, I need to be precise:

I bet that Megan Boone, won't appear on screen at least not from recently shot scenes.

So, if Megan Boone appears on screen, from old scenes, and also if a silhouette or a hand or the back of a person is supposed to be Liz, that's not the same as a fresh Megan Boone scene.

OK, I'm going to throw this one out there cuz the Wife and I were just talking about it.

Megan Boon is PREGNANT and this time it's TWINS, which is why she hasn't been on the show in recent months!! Think about it. They have ONE child and if like most couples wanted more than one so I'm betting this is the answer.

Just saying...............

I thought about that possibility rather than the possibility of she working on another project,

A maternity leave sounds reasonable to me, that the producers would be willing to accomodate her, and still keep the Liz character in the shadows so to speak.

On the other hand, I don't believe that the producers would be so accomodating if Megan Boone told them something like: "Hey chiefs, I won't be showing up for work in the next months because I'll be working on another TV series, but keep my character alive, please and I'll be back as soon as I finish that other project"

Having said that, I don't think she'd be back soon in case the maternity leave is the reason she's been absent.

She's not coming back: ‘The Blacklist’ Star Megan Boone Leaving NBC Series After 8 Seasons – Deadline

Assuming we get all the answers about Red and Liz in the last two episodes of this season, what is the point of another season I wonder.

I don't want to post a spoiler. Do a search for Megan Boone.
Without researching (I prefer not to know anything until after the episodes), I'm assuming she is finished with the series. But as long as James Spader is still on staff, there could be a cliffhanger involving him to keep us interested. If he goes away, they may as well pack it in since the show would have no life left.

According to the link in post 1126, it is imbedded in the quote, Boone will not be returning next season. If she is gone that makes me think her part of the story is likely done. So what next?

Next season will be either really good or really bad. That covers the bases. It could be really good since we can finally get away from the tired Red/Liz story and the writers can open up with new ideas. That is, if the good writers are still around. If not, that's the really bad scenario. I'm surprised James Spader didn't pull the plug at this point. He could use his talents in many different ways rather than repeating what he's done well for years on this show. For me, he's in the category that if he's in it, I'll watch it.

What? No discussion of Red being Liz's mother? Without Googling it I had I figured it out the week prior when we heard Liz's mom was still alive but "in hiding," the surgery scene with Red, this mysterious illness he has, him obsessively doing everything to protect Liz even after we learned he wasn't her father and with her trying to kill him, etc. Confirmed this week with the letter he wouldn't share until after he was dead (the big secret he was always protecting). "If you knew who I was, you wouldn't be able to kill me" or something to that effect. And lastly, the juxtapositions between Liz's mother's face and Red in the final montage.

I've been following this show since the beginning....have enjoyed the series, but the Red-Liz angle has been getting old for quite sometime so I'm glad to see it resolved. However, the finale was a big surprising and I have no idea if this is going to breed new life into the series or signal the death knell. One thing is for sure...to continue "as is" could continue...I just thought both would be taken out in a hail of bullets. C'est la vie.

October 21st? Yikes! The season starting dates get late and later, end earlier and earlier, and it seems like far fewer episode each year. I used to be a Big Fan of the network broadcasters, but it's slim-pickings these days. Regardless, I'm looking forward to the upcoming season...just a little ticketed that we still don't known Red's best kept secrets.
