I'm planning on setting up directv at my tailgate on the mall this season but I need some advice. At home I have an HD receiver and dish. If I bring that receiver to my tailgate and hook it up to a standard NON-HD dish will it work to receive all of the standard channels or do I have to buy another HD dish for my tailgate.

There are ways to make it work, but I would suggest at least going to a 3LNB (101,110,119) dish.
If you can hold out through the first few weeks of the season, you may be able to get a new 3LNB slimline HD dish, too (99,101,103).
Also, if your home receiver is a DVR, I might suggest acquiring a non-DVR HD receiver, to save on power.
