Only starting this thread because my question really is specific. Thinking about a new Tablet PC for work (I spend hours every week in meetings and while the Treo is awesome, its not well suited for taking extensive notes; and I am sick of having a binder full of half-page notes...

So, thinking about a Tablet PC. Is there a Vista Tablet edition? Anyone familiar with it. Comparisons with XP Tablet edition? I know Tablets are a mixed bag; people love them or hate them. But I am looking for something light; not one of those 8 lb beasts where the screen flips over. I have a decent ThinkPad, but I don't pulling it out in meetings. Really, I want a Star Trek Padd; but since I can't get one of those for another 180 years... looking at a Tablet. AND I have a grant at work to pay for it.

Thoughts? Suggestions? Favorite brands? Inquiring minds want to know... :)

You might find some tablets there you like, since they are like a "pad" instead of a convertible computer. Also I don't know how Vista integrates the tablet software, but I do know its not in a separate package, i.e. if you buy ultimate you get the tablet software. Honestly if I was gonna get Vista I'd make sure I got Ultimate edition along with plenty of ram.

Those look pretty nice; and the prices weren't outrageous either. The question is whether the IT Dept would allow a purchase from a brand they weren't familiar with. (The IT Dept is a stumbling block on most issues, and is sadly creates more problems than it solves :( )
