SW Upgrade

Does anyone know what are the advantages of doing a SW upgrade on my Samsung HL-T5087S DLP?

Maybe it is to correct some factory default "mis-settings". If you a getting the firmware update for a legit source, it should have a detailed description of what the update does? If you can provide a URL to the update, we can try to help you decipher it.
