Well, just remember, as I've said, it's Monkey See, Monkey Do for me. I just look at the stuff you guys have already done and try to mimic the results. I don't understand much of this stuff, I'm just putting stuff together and hoping it works. Like a car, I can turn the key, start the motor and drive it but all the stuff going on that makes that happen, is beyond me..
Well to heck with it for tonight! United Package Smashers brought my new motor right about 8pm. Are you kidding me????
I went out on the patio and tried to do some stuff with the dish it's going on and the mosquitoes tore me up!
After almost half a year of NO RAIN the spell is broken and we've been getting daily downpours and the mosquitoes are back with a vengeance!
I'm just not in the mood to slather up tonight with Skin So Soft (which is only effective for about 30 minutes) so this is just going to have to wait until tomorrow.
I guess what I will do is wipe the Coolsat back to factory settings (I have it all monkeyed up for C-band) and prep it for USALS. I was checking it and every single satellite in it has discque settings all crazy from my last big adventure and I think it would be a lot easier to wipe it and start fresh than edit a zillion things with the stupid remote control. I'll just fix up a file on the laptop and pop it in all fresh and clean.
Tomorrow I'll get the dish and motor mounted, ensure that it's aligned properly and finding all the satellites, blind scan them all (just for fun) and then see if I can move it from the coolsat to the main pc tuner card and make it a happy part of the big family..
I also need to figure out how to tell the pc to use the USALS only for satellites that aren't on fixed dishes. I ~think~ I know what to do but when I try to work it out in my head I get dizzy and confused so I need to write it down I guess, sort of draw out a map of what will be what. Or something like that. OMG, this is getting complicated!

In MyTheatre, >settings >General Settings > Hardware(tab), Check USALS box and enter your Longitude and Latitude in Degrees, not minutes and seconds. ie: My latitude is 46°51'21.24"N (minutes and seconds) entered in MyTheatre as 46.8°N (degrees). Find your location in degrees at dishpointer. The fixed dishes don't care about the USALS commands. But I would hook up the motor after your 1x8 switch. That way it won't move unless you use it. I have my motors after the switch. The switch should pass enough current to run the motor. Mine does. MyTheatre does not do DiSEqC 1.2 and USALS at the same time like some STBs. You cannot run the VBox C-Band dish mover when you have USALS activated. You will need to use it like I do. DisEqC 1.2 for both C-Band and Ku movers. Hint! When setting up positions for the Ku dish, Use USALS to get the dish there and scan channels, then switch off USALS and enter you position number and store in memory. Switch back to USALS and scan another sat and repeat. This worked well for me.
I do not want to take this risk. If I burn that switch out I'm in a big, big mess.

I do not know what any of the things mean or do and am totally confused now.

You can buy that switch for $9 at roxsat right now. Don't think you can knock that switch out by putting too big a load on it. It just wouldn't pass the juice and whatever it was that needed it wouldn't work right. I've got two of those switches and they have been serving me well for over 5 years in many kinds of setups, inside and outside use.
I know the switch can be replaced. But the problem is the time it would take to get a replacement. I can't just pop on down to Lowe's or Radio Shack to get one. I would be without TV for a few weeks while waiting on a new one. Even being down for one day is unacceptable.
I think I should call this project to a full halt until I order a 2nd switch as a spare in case I fry the ONE that I have. Then if I fry it I can remove the motor completely and put a new switch in, I wouldn't be down more than few minutes that way.
Well the pc theater app will NOT move the ku motor, at all. Not even a smidge.

Well no need to stop tinkering The switch is only one aspect of the setup. You still need to discover how to use USALS or not in MyTheatre. BTW I ended up ordering the same Hauppauge tuner you have. I had to get it from overseas. Hauppauge does not sell it in the US.

The dish is parked on 83 and will sit there rusting away until Azbox comes out with a tuner that gets ku, S2 and C band AND OTA as well, all in one tuner box.
When I get one of those, I'm taking a hammer to this theater pc BS.....

Well I didn't put that app on the pc, my ex did. I didn't ask for it or know what it was until he messed everything up.
I do not know what the original app was but it worked pretty well until he goofed it all up. It used to put TV in the kitchen, bedroom, living room and my home office (now my crafts room) all on different size TV's, it filled the screen on each one of them and the sound was always on them all at the same time.
Now it will only work on one screen at a time and the sound will only go to one screen at a time. Every time I want to go to another room I have to go to the pc and mess with the mouse, kill the app, open the sound properties and change the sound to a different set of speakers. Half the time the screen will be all squished up and I have to reboot to fix it.
It hasn't worked worth a darn in a long time now. It's 100 times worse than ever. Before, it just worked. Now, I have to fight with it every time I go to a different room!
And this stuff now. It won't move the motor at all and the fonky little coolsat does. It is not the wiring, it is not the way I have things put on the wires because the coolsat works just fine.
Well, with the exception that the coolsat is extremely limited and won't come close to doing what I need it to do. It is fine for checking things like this, it confirms that my wires are just fine and that the problem is the pc app..
I am not smart at this stuff like you guys and problem solving with a pc app, that's just not happening for me. If I can't mimic what someone else has already done, I'm up against a brick wall.
I wish I could see that setup of yours. Especially the signal distribution setup. I've never needed more than one monitor or TV at a time so I've never looked into a multi-room, multi-monitor system. Sounds like the ex was quite a sat enthusiast. But I'm beginning to see some of what was driving him

There used to be a box with wires from the pc into it, then wires went from it to around the house. After his meddling with things and it stopped working I took that mess out and now it only goes to my flat screen and a screen by my desk. It's all messed up and doesn't work for diddly anymore. I'm very unhappy with the entire situation.
Oh and btw, he was a few fries short of a happy meal. Most things he touched, never worked right again.
Here's a little trick to move the MT display window to different displays in a windows extended desktop arrangement. Windows 7 anyway,
make sure display window is active window by clicking it,Hold windows key + shift key and hit right or left arrow key to move window right or left to next display.

what pc tuner are you using deeann? ive tried almost all of them. not all tuners can send the commands to move an hh motor. i had a setup similar to yours at one time. start with tuner to ecoda then 0khz for cband and 22khz for ku. then to the hh motor then to diseqc switch. hopefully your using a usb tuner as a hefty load on the pci bus isnt a good idea. then when i know what tuner your using i might be able to suggest some software.
