Starz Torchwood- A Miracle Day

It also reminded me of Soylent Green.

I was not expecting that to happen to the doctor. I thought once she was part of "Torchwood" ... all would be good.

I will say though that is one thing that I liked about Torchwood versus say Star Trek. With Star Trek, there could be a ga-zillion lazer shots being fired, but the "good guys" never got hit.

Not so with Torchwood ... they can get "torched" (pun intended) ... which can make the show unpredictable and surprising ... which is a good thing.

I am also impressed with the child killer guy in the sense of ... you think he is about to break ... but then he pulls out a genius streak ... while I hate the character for what he did ... the actor to me is doing an awesome job ... which is probably a good sign that the actor and writers are doing their jobs :)
 
What do you think the odds are on Dish giving another year of STARZ? ;)

Shoot ... if Torchwood comes back ... looks like I will have to:

1. Purchase the channel
2. Download the episodes online (Torrent/Channel web site/other).
3. Hope that Dish is offering a 3 months free STARZ deal every summer and that I am eligible for said promotion every year.
4. Wait for DVD.
5. STARZ deal turns into a multi-year deal like the Cinemax for a Penny thing did.
6. Get BBC America.

For my Doctor Who and up until now Torchwood, I have been torrent'ing the episodes.
 
I gave up torrents a couple of years ago. Just use DDL site now. I watch quite a bit of Australian and UK programming that never makes it here.

I never did either, until the Dr. Who reboot. Each succeeding Doctor has talked faster than the last one, which makes it easy to miss things, especially when the plots seem to have gone the Dr. House route of explaining everything at the last minute in a torrent of technobabble. And on top of that, for some reason the audio has always seemed wonky -- the center channel has been subdued and lately the LFE seems to be too prominent too. Even before I had a surround system and/or before I had the channel with Dolby sound, the dialog had seemed muddy, completely unrelated to the fast speech and the accents. I've never seen anyone attempt to explain the problem. (And it's not the channel, it's only Dr. Who, regardless of what channel it's on.)
 
Her Welsh is thick but it's not too bad for me after listening to my Irish relatives all my life. The faster they talk the worse it gets until I've been around them for again for a week. I used to feel like Johnny Carson trying to figure out what I just heard. It's pretty much second nature to me now.

I often skip back when she says something quickly, just so I can try again to catch it. Sometimes I do, usually I don't. She's almost impossible for me to get when she's emotional/upset. Then it's either CC or just wait and see what happens or how others react to give me the gist of what she said...
 
Surprisingly I have never had an issue with the accents, but I tend to be a terribly fast talker myself. I think a couple of years in Boston helped. That was one thing I liked about Boston, people talked as fast I did and understood me. In TX I have to sometimes repeat myself more slowly.

I was born in Little Rock ,Arkansas and lived there for 6 years then moved to St. Louis Missouri and stayed therefor about 5 years . When I was 11 I moved to Southeast Texas :Beaumont area. So I can sometimes talk fast myself, but normally talk with a southern accent. But I can understand Northern speaking people just fine, but the British /Scottish & Australian people are simply too hard to comprehend . It isn't just the accent ,but the lingo they use that only their country understands. We use different slang in this country then they do. What the hell is a fortnight? The last time I heard that was in High School reading Shakespear.
 
I'm in Idaho ... being raised in Canada ... when I visit family ... they have said that I speak with a bit of a "drawl" now ... or slower. I have no issues understanding though.

I have never had problems really with "English" ...
 
I just noticed yesterday that Torchwood is one of the featured TV shows in Dish Online and the episodes are HD.

And I am not currently a Starz customer either.

If you are with Dish, you should be...free Starz for a year, starting back in Feb.
