I'm curious as to what people's thoughts are with starlink??? Ide be on a roaming plan as were going to be traveling alot. What are the speeds like are the consistent throughout the network or will we be throttled if were not in our home area ( like it was in the past ). Is there data caps?

I have a friend of mine that lives in rural New Mexico. His DSL internet connection was awful. There were no cable or fiber options so he opted for Starlink. I don't know what kind of speeds he is getting but he loves it. I know this probably doesn't help much but I thought I'd pass it along.

If you plan on being out of wireless range a lot, Starlink is an option. The roaming cost is pretty steep ($165/month) if you use it for other than e-mail and web browsing.

The $50 50GB plan will likely get you less than 40 minutes of HD video per day.

By comparison, an unlimited wireless plan could be considerably cheaper if you're mostly within the coverage area.

In hearing from a number of RV'ers that have Starlink, the most common complaint, and only a few of those, is problems with coverage in heavily treed areas. Other than that, the consensus seems to be it's pretty well liked.

I signed up for Starlink last year when the standard dish was on sale. I was at a campground that had very weak wifi using my Travlfi setup. I used it on my next trip with great results. I have the 50gb for $50 roam plan. It does not need to be aimed anymore, but you need a clear view of the sky.

We’re paying 100.00 for an unlimited att hotspot max speed of 100 mbps. Att has pretty good coverage now since they got the first net contract. I remember when it was Cingular. We used to call ‘‘em single bar lol

I've used it with the $50 roam plan as well during the Helene aftermath here in SC. During off peak hours the speeds are really good, but during the "peak" time from about 8-10pm at night I found the speeds were slower due to more people using it during those hours for streaming, etc. My understanding is Roam customers are at the end of the totem pole as far as prioritization, etc. but the speeds were still fine in my case.

We ran our entire home network- TVs, PCs, mobile devices, etc. off it for 2+ weeks until Spectrum repaired their lines. I still use it when traveling, pausing it as needed.
