Should a DirecTivo be put into Standby Mode when not in use?

Does it make any difference?

no it doesn't make a difference all it does is shut the box off just like you would a regular box

It will allow any cable or OTA signal to pass through. I do it every night because my wife wants to see our local weather channel only on cable.

I've had both of my units on since last January.It doesn't hurt anything.They are supposed to operate this way.
