Currently in Northern NH (almost at the Canadian border) getting Burlington locals on 61.5 (spotbeam 2). Looking at the spotbeam maps, I would be borderline to get the Spotbeam 3 NYC locals. I am getting the "spotbeam" message on a bunch of transponders, including the transponder which indicates NYC locals according to "the list". I am fearfull of calling Dish to "move" only to realize I can't get the NYC locals, and would have to call back to try and "move back".
Is there anyway to make sure I will get the spotbeam 3 locals before actually "moving"?

Thanks

according to thelist TP15 the closest to you is NY...everything else is way out of town (Michigan. Florida, Texas, Virginia)

If you get a good enough signal on 61.5 TP15 spotbeam then you should be good to go

Nice. Thank You. Just out of curiosity, does Dish ask for any "proof" for the move? How much trouble will I have if this does not work and I need to "move back" or "move again" in a short period of time?

That I dont know. Use to be just call them up and "move" but its been a couple years since I had dish so rules may have changed

I called a week or so ago and moved back to my real address for a receiver upgrade and all they asked was if everything was hooked up already. I said yes and that was it.

Today when I "moved" to a new address they didn't ask anything at all. Except since I am not under the NY spot here in DE I am hoping the move back is as easy :)

I did call off hours, not sure if that makes any difference at all.....

Another option is to "go on vacation' rather than 'move' Dish will 'temporarily' switch locals for people taking their receivers to their vacation home. I understand NYC is beautiful this time of year.

I have Dish with the "locals only"and have "moved" I only get a signal between 10-18 but I never seem to have a problem except late at night after 11:30 pm or so. For some reason it goes in and out but I'm not usually up then so I don't know how much of a problems it really is. By morning everything is fine. I "moved" back home a couple a months ago to get a satellite upgrade and then "moved" back a couple of days later with no problem.

If I were to "go on vacation", would that entail being charged NY Sales Tax instead of the fantastic NH rate of 0%?

Would they choose my original home base to charge me tax or my new "vacation" address?

Is a call necessary to "move" or can an online rep process the "move"?

they charge tax on the PHYSICAL address is located. When I "moved" a long time ago my billing tax was 6 1/2% and the physical was 7 1/2%....I got billed the 7 1/2% tax

They only charge sales tax on leased receivers and the protection plan in NY. There is no tax on the programing or owned receivers.
