If Speed produces any HD programming (which I don't think they do); you can just call, write and/or email DirecTV via any of their methods of providing suggestions, feedback and comments and ask for the addition..

Speed Tv in HD

I have been emailing Dave Despain from speed channel about speed in hd, they said they dont have a timeframe for speed in hd, but as soon as it becomes hd Dish and Directv will surely pick it up.

Well if the do get an HD channel, they "NEED" to pick up the WRC again! I really miss seeing this. Plus, it's shown in HD in Europe! I was in Germany for 3 weeks and was astonished at the HD PQ of the WRC!

HDNet carried the Champ Car series in 2004. NASCAR is currently in HD (not that I watch), WTF can't we get F1, CART, etc. too? Come on Speed!!! We continue to play the waiting game.

If memory serves me well, Speed was bought by NASCAR a couple of years ago. Since NASCAR is in HD on the networks that carry it, maybe the request should go to them.

Although I remember seeing F1 listed as part of VOOM's WorldSport programming, the rest of the world is a little behind us in terms of ramping up HD content. I would think it would be a little while before SPEED had enough of its international content in HD to make an HD broadcast worthwhile.

I recently had the chance to have a very nice and lengthy talk with Speed announcer Peter Windsor and asked him precisely that question.

His reply: expect Speed HD sometime in 2008. As a matter of fact, all FIA filming is now done in HD, according to Peter.

When I was in Italy 3 weeks ago for the Monza GP, there were Europe 1080 (a European HD sports network) trucks at the track, so obviously some people are already getting F1 in HD.

Here's Peter saying "Hi Satelliteguys!"

Here is the link for Euro1080: http://www.euro1080.tv/

How it all started…

1st January 2004 has been a crucial day in the history of High Definition (HD) in Europe. The increasing demand for experiences of high-quality entertainment could no longer be ignored and has lead to the launch of Euro1080.

Euro1080 has been initiated, coordinated and promoted by Alfacam, a Belgium based company providing TV facilities and services to broadcasters and production houses all over the world. Alfacam’s television trucks –– travel all over Europe and beyond, recording major events. At present, Alfacam has a fleet of 22 trucks of which 12 operate in HD.

Before 2004 there was no platform available to broadcast HD images recorded by Alfacam. At that time, none of the national broadcasters had the intention to start with HD in the forseable future. That is exactly why Alfacam took the challenge with Euro1080.

HD1/2/3/5: http://www.hd-1.tv/ - HD1 is broadcasting HERE via Satellite on ASTRA and SIRIUS.

One of their distribution partners is HISAT and the Euro1080 item:
http://www.hisat.com/proddetail.php?prod=RECHDCI2000IRDEURO1080

As Official UK Partner dealer for Euro1080 - We offer you the best price and essentially the best support for European Digital TV channel HD1, This card may also open other Euro1080 channels HD2, HD3 or HD5 dependant on where the card is registered and the licensing agreement of the broadcast material – for example Live World Cup Football in Belgium, Croatia, Latvia & Poland.

With this deal we offer you the HUMAX HDCI2000 HDTV MPEG4 digital satellite receiver + a new Irdeto 2 CAM and the Euro1080 card which gives you a paid subscription to Euro1080 until the End of the Year 2010!

High definition pictures are truly spectacular – Whether you like Sport or Concerts, Documentaries or simply beautiful Scenery

The Humax HDCI-2000 Hardware is the most reliable and flexible HDTV receiver and of course you can use the receiver with MPEG2 transmissions as well

I would even be willing to watch F1 HD as a Pay per View event every 2 weeks!!! I would love to see the super slo-mo's in HD!! Who would we e-mail/write to to request pay per view HD F1? Bernie? LOL
