I was not meant to be a picture quality test, just a test to see if there will be an issue with BBC's.

From the poll at dBStalk it appears that they could be an issue as 13% of those folks who tuned in last night could not pick up those channels.

Im pretty sure the first dirty jobs at 10 pm was in HD. The 11 pm one was upconverted.

Thanks.

Scott, was that 13% people that passed the 480 and 481 test?

Missed the test. D* has to be the worst communicating company of all time. Why not send out a notice on our recievers telling us about the test?

I got the distinct impression that they made the decision to have the test at the last minute. When I initially heard about it, it was only going to be a 30 min. test on one channel, then two, then the three hour test it ultimately became -- and all of this within the last hour or so before it started.

Hopefully, this means that they light up something tomorrow morning....

Let's see if this works...

Here is the breakdown...

Code:
Got all test channels 480/481/498/9300/9301 - 762 - 81.32%
Got 9300/9301 but black screen 498 - 37 3.95%
Got 9300, but not 9301 6 0.64%
Got 9301, but not 9300 6 0.64%
Didn't get 9301 nor 9300 114 12.17%
Don't get any test channel 480/481/498/9300/9301 12 1.28%

Thanks for the poll info.

I have no idea how my home dvr is working(will know tues night), but my inlaw's is getting 480 and 481 fine, not 498 though. Wish I would not have missed the test last night.

somewhere around 20% couldnt get 498 and after spending hours and hours playing around with key presses to trick it to work probably were frustrated and didnt even konw about the 9300 and 9301 test channels. I decided screw it after all of the 498 gymnastics. If I dont get the channels D* will just have to install new equipment until I do. In any case I think the breakdown is worthless since you have a test that has been running for days added to test results that happened for a couple of hours that few knew about.

I'm a CE'r, but I cannot get these channels. I restarted the receiver as others have done and still nothing. But then again, I did the DOD keyword last week and that never got activated either.

Joe,
fwiw, I also do the CE's and Can get 480 and 481, but cannot get 498.
I DID have it once after playing pause / un-pause games and it popped in, but when I left the channel and went back, it was gone again.
Can't get it back when trying later in the day either.
I had it on my other HR20-700 earlier and now cannot get it on that one either.

Finally a picture

If youve seen any of my posts lately, I've gotten 480 and 481 all along , but never got the 498 channel, except on a fluke thing earlier Sunday and only for a few minutes.

Well, Now that it is officially Monday morning, I flip to 498 and it came right in !!!
Only problem is, once I go off that channel and then back to it, IT"S GONE AGAIN ......

I seriously think it's a D* issue and when it all goes live , everything will be good .... Why ???? you may ask ???
Because I DO get the 480 and 481 channels that clearly state that the B-band converters are working and I show voltage from the103(b) sat.

I get good signals on all my receivers and they all pass the 480/481 test. But my HR20-100 does not get picture or sound on 498.

I also think all will be OK when new channels go live. I saw where some had posted that they got 9300 and 9301 when they were live, but not 498. We need a couple of full-time channels for testing purposes.

ok 9300 and 9301 come in. Does anyone see where it says to be announced on the program guide and if you press info it says that the current program is scheduled to run until 10/31 at 1159pm? Does this mean that they have postponed the launch of new channels until November 1st or is it just a date that directv picked out of their ass when they setup the program guide?

I get 9300/9301...

9300 is SD for me
9301 is HD, but it's not full screen. Commercials on this station are though.

My dad said the same thing everybody else is saying about picture quality.

Being a former Dish sub, a good bit of the TLCHD and DiscHD stuff is upconverted, DO NOT make judgement on that PQ. The HD stuff looks great, theirs just not 100% of it right now.

Many think its HD because it ALMOST fills the entire screen, but it is not.
