That is the only thing I wish that the Sony would do (not that I have any 1080p sources, nor plan to in the immediate future). I'm sure it will be available on this years model.

I wonder if this generation can be upgraded with software.

Nope it requires Hardware upgrades

What's the build date on your set? I'm curious as it seems the newer ones seem to be less likely to have the problem.

New 2006 models will be 50" & 60" and drumroll please..... 70" model

the speakers will be on the bottom this time

I have the Richard Gray. Man it is sweet and makes a difference. Well worth the money.

I've owned my Sony 60" xbr grand wega for 4 years and no regrets!
I went to circuit city in the morning and asked the sales person to switch from discovery hd to satelite and he did it! I thought he was just switching the Sony
instead all the TV's were switched.

the Sony had the best picture for SD than any other TV on the floor 50" or bigger.

I just bought the original SXRD in question. Absolutely amazing picture in HD, and I am not going to regret this purchase ever. Yeah, technology is going to advance during the next 10 years, but by the time I get my next TV, I will gotten the life out of this one.

Fabulous picture. Great sound. Easy to set up.
