Sony KDL-55HX701?

My wife saw this model at Costco over the weekend and asked if I wanted to buy it for the bedroom since I took the 52" Sony with me to VA. I really wasn't expecting her to ask for a HDTV (since I'm usually the one asking to buy electronics) and I haven't kept up with any of the models/features over the last year or two. Very little on the Internet about this particular set. The picture is outstanding...good specs...plenty of features...and it appears to be right priced at $1599. Anyway, does anyone have any experiences with this model?

Sony'a are high priced. Sounds like a older or entry level LCD from Sony. Find a plasma (1080p) for under a grand. Your wife will appreciate the savings and picture quality.

Chances are the model number is slightly altered from another, designating it as a Costco sale.

If there is another very similar number that your more familiar with, it's probably that.

I have not seen the HX models yet, but they do have the EX and I think a NX series, and yes they are different grades of sets, but I can't tell you where the HX sits.

I use to buy ONLY Sony, but that was many years ago, at least in the last 5 they are not making them as well as they have in the past, they have dropped the quality some to put the price point competitive with others.
