Sony KDF-60wf655 Resolution

I am just curious of the resolution of my television. It is a Sony KDF-60WF655 LCD Projection. The only thing I have found anywhere is this listed below.

1,366 x 788 (x 3)

I found this on a third-party opinion website and and unable to locate any other information. Not even in the owners manual. The TV will accept a 1080i, 720p, and the 480's. From what I can tell from that resolution, my tv has only 788 horizontal lines of resolution. If this is true, that means even though I am putting using a 1080i input, I am not getting that true resolution correct? If that is correct, would it be worth it to switch my input to 720P? Anyones opinions would be great! Thanks!
 
1386x788 is a very common native resolution among LCDs. Somewhere between 720p and 1080p

You can try both 720p and 1080i. You probably won't see much difference either way.

I usually prefer 1080i, because most of the source materials are in 1080i. One less conversion: 1080i -> 1386p vs. 1080i -> 720p -> 1386p

When watching 1080 material you should let the most competent component do the rescaling. From my experience it is not the TV in most cases.
Hence, if possible, feed the TV a 720p siganl.

You can try it both ways and compare.

Since external scalers cannot possibly scale to 1386, there is no way around the internal scaler.
 
OK stupid question i guess, but i didn't really research this like I should have in the beginning. I guess what I am wanting to know is if my TV is able to produce a true 1080i picture. I assume that the pixels create 788 horizontal lines and 1386 vertical lines. Am I correct in this assumption? And If i am, that would mean I would not be able to view a true 1080i picture as that would have 1080 lines of horizontal lines, correct?

I am not trying to sound like a nitpicker or anything and my picture is bueatiful, I am just tring to understand the technology. Thanks!

With a 1080 display you would be able to sit a little closer

Don't feel bad about it. Most HDTV sets cannot display Full HD. Only 1080p sets can. But then again, most people can't tell the difference anyway. ;)
 
Damn, well, not the first time I have looked like a complete moron. So you are saying most 1080i sets do not display 1080 lines? I hope that is true that way i dont' feel completely ripped off.

All HDTV sets can accept 1080i signal. But then they convert it to their native resolution.

There is no such thing as 1080i sets any more (except for some old CRT HDTVs): "i" stands for "interlaced". All LCD, DLP and plasma sets are "progressive" by nature with the following most common native resolutions: 720p, 788p or 1080p. All these resolutions qualify as HD. Only 1080p sets (commonly advertised as "Full HD" sets) can display all 1080 lines.
 
Ok this makes sense to me now. I usually consider myself pretty tech savvy but i did not know this. So all LCD and plasma screens are progressive. Did not know that, thanks!
 
Well, I am not sure which number is the most correct one... I've seen 1386 x 788 mentioned in some reviews, but this might be a mistake.
 
I knew I saw it somewhere in the book but couldn't find it for the life of me when I looked through it before. The resolution is nowhere in the specifications section which I found really odd.
