I just got notified that up to 16 - 20 Dish Network Locals Cities are currently DOWN. This is due to a Fiber problem and they are working to restore the services ASAP.

What did you expect? When the TV goes down, everybody gets up and goes to the bathroom and ruptures the plumbing.

Could be related to this fiber cut:

Crappy part is that Sprint has 'self-healing SONET rings' in its network. basically a bi-directional circle, connected throughout the US (think of the olympic rings since its that time of year). Well, my guess is the ring out west went through Reno and Phoenix. Since it was already 'cut' in Reno Junction for repair, the ring 'self healed' itself to send traffic through Phoenix (i.e. around the other side of the circle).. the cut in Phoenix happens and oops, you got 2 cuts in the circle and therefore an outage.

Chicago=Dish 1000??
