Yes there is, but like mentioned the SD models will not get you 4:2:2 even if the broadcast is in SD format.

Depends on the day, sometimes there are not much 4:2:2 content at all.

So if I buy a reciever that can get 4:2:2 can I watch it on my SD tv or do I also have to go out and get a HD tv?

im no expert but i believe you would be able to watch all of the SD channels, im not sure if there are any 4:2:2 SD broadcasts so you might be wasting your money, maybe somebody else can correct me if im wrong,

Just because its in 4:2:2 doesnt mean its HD. LOTS of 4:2:2 programming is SD. I've already posted one example...the NBC feeds that were on 103W when they were 4:2:2 were HD
a sports network out there (not naming it but you probably know who it is) uses 4:2:2 alot and the feeds are SD. After all when you use a symbol rate of 13000 it wont be in HD most of the time :)

Ok Ice, thanks for clearing that up. Is there any external decoder available like I did for AC3 audio, or is a new receiver or PC card only way to go.

No, there is no external decoder for the 4:2:2 ( unless of course you "lucked" into some commercial equipment at scrap prices ) . For 4:2:2 reception , an Azbox or PCI card solution are the only real consumer choices.
Check out the ports on the rear of an AZbox Ultra. The Composite video, S-video and component video can all attach to a SD TV set . There is no RF output, so you'd need a separate modulator if you needed RF OUT.
:)
