I followed the advice of crodrules who suggested I do my OTA scans on the single tuner adapter, then unplug the receiver and swap for the dual. Working flawlessly so far. Of course, this requires you to have both devices (old single and new dual dongles). However, this way, I won’t have to worry about burning out the old single tuner.

To be clear, I only have Wally and Hopper Duo, no Joeys. So, I don't know if the above trick helps with Joeys. I just know that it worked on my Wally, when I still had a single-tuner adapter.Seems too good to be true---but I guess it is worth a shot.
I tuner the Hopper 3 to the same channel OTA and the video and audio hiccoughs stopped.
The Hopper 3 and the Joey would both be using the same OTA tuner. The other OTA tuner would still be available for recording something else, or watching live from another Joey.Does kind of defeat the purpose of multiple tuners though.

See the post directly above. The Hopper 3 only has to be on an OTA channel briefly, to stabilize the OTA on the Joey.True but you still cannot watch to different programs on those two TVs as you might expect to do.
Figured I have been dealing with this for a year I would drag it back to top.
Hopper 3, does it with both single and dual tuners...
Replace your tuner with the new unit being offered by dish or air tv. Problem solved.

Which dual adapter do you have? If it is the one with the detachable USB extender cable, that is a Hauppauge, and it is known to have issues. Getting a newer Lark (or the cheaper one from AirTV) might help you with this problem.we have the dual, from last time network dispute was around. my wife mentioned a show live on the antenna was breaking up on the J4k , signal is 100% and no issues on the hopper 3.
is this a case i should unplug the ota tuner, box reboots, good stuff happens, or is the OTA adapter in need of replacement, or is this its just not a great system ??
antenna is in the attic, Winegard UHF Yagi Style or similar,
thoughts, opinions ?? thanks for the time
That problem has been going on since August 2017. Go with the cheaper dual AirTV option.we have the dual, from last time network dispute was around. my wife mentioned a show live on the antenna was breaking up on the J4k , signal is 100% and no issues on the hopper 3.
