A guy rang my door bell today asking if I wanted him to remove my c Band dish I have sitting in my back yard. I said no, but thank you I am just waiting for the fall to put it up. He said relay? What are you going to use it for? I just smiled and gave him some old 12v batteries I was saving for core value.

A young man stopped at my place and wanted to know if I wanted to get rid of my C-band dishes, so that he could use them as shields when playing paint ball with his friends. So many have no clue just how many channels you can receive with a C-band dish and reduce or even eliminate your CATV bill.

My dentist last week said "Years ago you could install a TV antenna outside and get all your channels for free, but today you are forced to purchase CATV ". I sat there thinking "You still can do that today", but couldn't respond, because he had his hands in my mouth.

You'd be surprised how many people today have no ambition. It takes effort to research and install various antennae and dishes. Most today have no desire to make any effort. Call Comcast and pay the bill is all the effort they are willing to put in.

Yup, I get 23 channels OTA with about 1/3 of those being HD and I've run up on several ppl that didn't know that was still available?? Have to wonder where they think the "local" channels come from on D!sh/Direct? IIRC that OTA antenna was about $25 and well worth it.

No ambition, like Fred555 said, or they want HBO and stuff like that. I had a guy stop here one time asking me about my 9' dish when I was out working in my yard, he'd said he'd seen it moving one day when he was driving down the highway behind my house. I talked with him for quite a while explaining about it and he understood everything good, he was all hyped up to go find a dish until I told him you couldn't get HBO, Showtime, etc. Tried to tell him that there was a lot up there worth watching, but his interest level was pretty much zero then.

I have people ask me quite often about setting up a dish, or OTA antenna, but when it seems like they have to do a little thinking or work, their interest usually plummets.

Like FatAir said, cameras are a good thing to deter scrappers and other unwanted intruders. I just updated mine to newer ones, Zosi ZG2317A's, day/night [color during the day, B/W at night] they were only $21 on Amazon and work great so far, been about a month. I did get one bad right out of the box out of the four I bought though, but it was replaced with no issue.

I would be willing to bet i am safe, Not trying to be a hard ass here, but it is behind a locked fence, 120 feet from the road, I have C.C.T.V, and a ran a loop to my alarm through the web of the dish. if it is moved i will know. I am not a hard case or anything, but i paid for the dish and paid to remove it.
some one would need to really want it.
