SNY Gone Tomorrow? (It's Gone!)

this dispute just proved to the Dish Customers who love sports who call the NYC market home that Dish doesn't like sports. if losing MLB League Pass and not making a deal with MLB to carry MLB Network and the loss of MSG, MSG+ and refusing to sign a deal with YES wasn't enough, then SNY maybe the final nail for the NYC market being a Dish Network friendly Market for sports fans. if i called NYC home, rooted for a NYC team and pretty much was a Dish Customer i would be price searching who has the best deal, bite the E.T.F. bullet and then say hello to the new provider, because face it, Dish Network wrestled an long match for the chance at being the champion of the NYC market and DirecTV (and to a lesser extent, cable/FiOS/U-verse) forced them to tap out of a submission hold (yes I'm making a reference to Pro Wrestling).

sorry NYC Sports fans with Dish, Charlie is a cheap b****** and he hates sports and also hates the NYC market.

You just figured this out? :) Yes, they conceded the market in NY to those that want to watch their teams. Not having YES and MSG didn't give a clue? Didn't the dispute with YES start in 2007, almost four years ago? And MSG about 6 months.

Dish just might as well let SNY go as well. I mean it's the only RSN at this point on E*, and if you think about it, how many people are ONLY Mets fans (that's all SNY carries right?) AND would be willing to subcribe to a service that only has SNY for an RSN?

I have an honest question for you. What did you think or want Dish to say? The fact is they ARE in negotiations, and they DO think the price keeps escalating....and they ARE going to continue to get it back.

I'm guessing this will not drag on and on. I say that because I don't think SNY can afford to lose the income from Dish, unlike YES and MSG. And dish has certainly proven they will go without and take their chances, which so far has worked.

It doesn't affect me. I was only saying it to convey information. I know how these things go. I was expecting exactly what I got. I was on the phone and I figured I'd ask while I was on there.

I hate to prolong this, but I don't understand when you say you got exactly what you expected. I ask again, what did you want them to say instead? Lie? What you were told is as close to what we know is going on as possible. Did you want them to divulge their negotiating tactics? Lol!

Negotiating tactics? Dish says this is what we will pay, and SNY says this is what we want. Dish says screw you, and we are left without the channel. That pretty much sums up their tactics in a nutshell.

The sad part is Charlie is too cheap to even give a credit to his NY area subs..he just keeps increasing personal fortune (billions) on the backs of his hardworking subs who are trapped in his ridiculous 2 year contracts. Some people would call this thievery or bait and switch or any other names for people who use deceit and trickery to make money

I can't believe they took it off altogether. Usually there is at least a grphic with a message there is a dispute. This time they just yanked it as if they don't expect a resolution. Losing NY Sports is really the only issue I've had with Dish but it is a big one.

There is a graphic on the channel.

Thank goodness for MLB.TV. Of course, if the Mets were a major league team, this might actually matter to fans.

Well I was kinda expecting an amount they said sny wanted them to pay (just a percentage like normal) but then I remembered after typing that that this negotiation didn't allow for that information to become public. I know they wont say more. Wasn't expecting them to. I don't really care if they did it wouldn't change a thing.

What I find funny is the fact dish claims that everyones bill will go up due to RSN's. Many think this.. when the simple fact of the matter is, Dish subscribers pay just as much, if not more than Directv subscribers, and the fact dish keeps dropping programming, yet your bills stay the same? Have you yet to see a decrease in your bill due to the Loss of Disney HD channels? When you loose a channel do you get a partal months credit for the loss of the channel. Nope....

A brand new Directv coustomer with promotional rates coming to directv pays 66.99 a month for a 4 room 1 hd dvr, 1 hd box and 2 sd boxes w/ premier service for the first year. Includes every HD RSN and movie package.

A brand new dish coustomer pays with promotional rate coming to dish pays 104.99 a month for a 4 room 1 hd dvr, 1 hd box and 2 sd boxes w/ AEP service for the first year. Doesn not incude full time HDRSN's has just about every movie channel out there.

You can go to directv and dish's websties and compare for yourself. Its in the open. So when you say that your paying less with dish, are you really? Really? Dish wonders why they are shedding coustomers. They are out of touch with the world. They need to re evaluate and see that there compitition is smoking the crap out of them on every front. The sad part is that dish could easly fix this. Stop worrying about profits for a bit, and put some real value into the buisness.

I really think charlie is driving the company for sale.. But its ok.. I'll be labeled as a basher and that I come over here to troll.. When in reality some need to get their blinders off and take a look at it from a diffrent perspective. Its so out in the open and so easy to see. This trainwreck has been coming for a few years now, yet people keep denying it.

Dish Network has already updated their Channel Lineup PDF - SNY was removed from the list of RSN's and the Multi-Sport Pack.

Where do you see Premier on their site for that price, for a year? I see the other packages for a year, can't find that one at that price at that length...

Even at that, you can't go by what is right now..... they both change incentives. Dish had a year promotion just a few days ago, which I don't see right now. So what is true today may not be tomorrow. I have always said, even if Dish looked good doing it, you can not compare incentive/promotions. That goes for Cable also. They vary way too much and too often, and especially with cable (I do not feel with Direct or Dish) they really hide the true cost in the end. What is more valid is what each says their regular price is.

A new customer I realize will go with a great promotion, don't blame them. But unless you are going to keep switching, which at some point will actually cost you more, that good price is very short lived.
For all the talk about sports (which this thread is) for me, a great promotion from Direct would in no way make up for lack of HD channels. And it may or may not be by alot, depending on what package and extras you get, Dish is still lower in general. This has become an old old debate. I rarely see a true comparison, package to package, and what you get. When something costs a little more you have to see what you are getting. There are times it shows Dish is more, but the poster fails to take into account the many more HD channels, or that with dish you are getting more equipment in that comparison. (I can say the same if Direct appears to cost more but may have more in that comparison if you look deep)
In the end I always see the same thing for years now. They are very close in cost, with Dish having an edge, but if you want sports you need Direct. If you want about as many HD channels as anyone has, you need Dish.

Yep, I did. I can see $83.99 for a year with a two year commitment after building and following their way to add the additional recievers. Can't see the $66.99...

RSN...then what?

So, if they dump SNY, does that mean that subscribers won't get *any* regional sports channels, or will they replace with some other region?
