Sluggish site response

I had initialy thought this issue was related specificaly to the Qwest imbedded adds but Im seeing this on other adds aswell such as the amd add and to a lesser extent the google three line adds and other adds and where an add tries to insert itsself but it doesnt happen or the server sets the template for it but it doesnt happen.

I am trying to get through and saw this thread - did not realize it was a week old or so but I am also haveing SLOW service this weekend. One hour 18 minutes to view 5 pages on the forums ---WAY TOO SLOW. 5 min per page is too slow, but this is idiotic. Also first page was allmost 4,000,000 bytes --- way too much information.

wow - another 14 minutes to post that -slow

Ok I can say that since I renewed my pub membership that the site lag has died out considerably. While I whole heartedly understand the need for advertising I think it should be a concern that there is an issue with one or more of the advertisers banners or with how the adds are scripted into the site causing such a horrible problem.

So here's what I propose:

All staff including Scott navigate the site not in a pub account, this will be the best way to see how slow site navigation is. Next disable one advertiser at a time to see wich one could be causing this problem. Disable the post inmbedded adds, most of the slow downs I've seen with these and the Qwest ones that are imbedded video adds.

I have no issue with the site having adds, it does need to get to a point where it pays for itsself and part of that comes from adds and pub membership but if site navigation becomes to difficult for non pub members then it could lead to them leaving wich no one wants right?

slow to repaint the pages

I didn't want to start a new thread with the same title, so while I don't think what I'm seeing is part of this thread, I'll post here first.

Last couple of days, I've noticed as each page comes up, it gets totally redrawn, as though I have not been caching it properly.
At first, I thought it might have something to do with a recent update to FireFox 2.0.0.12
The jury's out, but I wonder if there has been another server change in the last 24 to 48 hours that affects the way pages are presented to the visitors?

Every time I change pages, it's as though I requested a full page-redraw.

So here's what I propose:

AMEN - :up

ghost in the machine ?

I took a nap, and now the problem I was seeing is gone.
No reboot.
No new software.
No software deleted nor closed down.
\\ANOLE has been up for: 6 day(s), 20 hour(s), 49 minute(s), 53 second(s)
I was serious about no reboot! -

I was just about convinced that it was the recent FireFox update, that being the only thing new in days.
. . . or maybe something stupid my ISP had done . . .
I was ready to call 'em up and ask if they were experimenting with any sort of caching.

Then, I noticed this little post:

So, whatever it was. . . or wasn't. . . thank you very much! - :up

edit: was fine during a big download, too.
Now that the download is finished, the problem returns.
I guess I'll explore FireFox, and my bandwidth... :(

I have used CCleaner before sign on to this site, then checked the cached file immediately afterwards and found large files that are ads which I did not see - had to come from this site - pub membership seems to keep me from seeing some of them, but they still come to the computer. Also I had 78 files that were only single dashes.

I guess I have spent too much time on bbs's and HAM packet radio. I learned how to read hidden files....

Also, some advertiser is trying to put a harvester (parasite) into my operating system and stops the prossesing of any more information until it has tried up to 37 times to get by the Firewall provided by and required on my computer by The Boeing Company - who, by the way owns about one third of the world's satellites...

This make my access to this site extremely slow.
