Hello,
I recently bought a house, and moved the DirecTV setup I had along and did a self-install as to not extend my contract. The setup is a 5LNB Slimline with a wing dish for 72.5, connected to a SWM-8 and run into the house. Signals on all satellites except for 119 are in the mid to high 90s. However, in clear weather, the signals on 119 are low to mid 70s.
There are some trees which could possibly be causing this, but, I want to make sure that my thinking is correct: it's not possible to have great signals on all satellites except for 119 without an obstruction, right? I don't have a problem getting the trees trimmed, but I'd like to make sure I'm not doing anything rash that I don't have to.
We did follow the instructional videos on Solid Signal's website, which were very viewer friendly. We just were not able to peak 119 above mid 70s. The same equipment was able to get signals in the 90s on 119 at my old apartment.
EDIT: Is the low signal on 119 even a big deal for my location? Lyngsat shows that my locals are on 72.5, which would make sense because of the wing dish. Does that mean all that's coming in over 119 is guide information? I don't subscribe to the international/spanish programming. The only reason I'm asking is that a couple nights ago my locals were pretty painful to watch because of signal issues, but now I'm wondering if it was an issue with the link between the stations and DirecTV. Looked almost exactly like DirecTV was getting the channels to uplink OTA, and their antenna was having some low signal issues..
