When I signed up for Directv in May, 1995, an 18" round dish was installed. I was getting a little too much rain fade so I had it changed out for a 24" dish. Things improved. Now thirteen years later I am thinking of upgrading to a slimline dish and HD service. Will the slimline dish pick up as much signal as the 24" round dish that I currently have? If not, is there a larger slimline dish that would do as well or better at knocking out rain fade than my 24" round dish?

The slimline dish is the current one that you need to get all the current SD and HD channels.
The Slimline is LARGER than the 24" round you were using.
It is approx. 29"x 24" I don't remember the exact measurements, it's posted on most online retailers website that sell them if you need exact figures.

The Slimline is larger, but also more sensitive to mis-alignment. Unless you have line of sight issues (trees, buildings, etc.) you should be fine with a PROPELY aimed Slimline.

Thanks guys. I think I'll follow through with upgrading to a slimline dish. I am not interested in getting any international programming, so would I be safe in getting just a three LNB unit?
