I am sure this topic has been addressed before, but please humor me and let me know the answer!
I live in a locale where a local businessman is starting a new television station. The station will be a "My Network" affiliate. Unfortunately, the station's official headquarters and transmitting point is located in another DMA (though it is just 30 miles from us). Our DMA features stations that are 60 miles from us in the other direction.
In any event, given our positioning geographically, our local cable company provides network stations from both DMAs. Dish, however, only provides stations from our assigned DMA.
I remember a ruling being passed that satellite providers could provide "significantly viewed stations" to subscribers -- or stations that fall outside the assigned DMA but are significantly viewed by people in the area. I know Dish can't offer "Distant Networks" anymore, but I thought this situation was different.
Any answers out there?
