I just want to see what others are getting on the different transponders that have HD National channels on 129. More interested to see how the location affects the signal stregth readings. This is only for people using a single dish (Dish 1000 or Dish 1000.2). We all know that a bigger dish will give you higher readings. Thanks.

Please post the following:

Dish Type: Dish 1000.2
Receiver Model: 622
Location: San Francisco, CA
TP 6 58
TP 11 61
TP 19 88
TP 22 62
TP 23 76 or 63 (keeps bouncing)
TP 27 63
TP 30 86
TP 31 91

TP 11 102 for 119 and 91 for 110.

That looks about right. Maybe could be a FEW points higher, but that could just be the difference between where you live and the area where I install.

In the area that I install, the best signal strength we can get off the 129 is anywhere between 90 and 95 on TP 31.

Unfortunately, that is just the way it is with the 129 satellite.

Thank you Ralfy. I'll modify my original post to include TP 11 for 119 and 110. I know you have the best reading I've seen with a D1000.
IIRC 129 'wobbles' around a bit with something like a 20 min cycle, due to malfunctioning gyroscopes (or someting like that). So the signal strength varies depending on when you measure it :( A strict comparison would require knowing when the measurement was taken and where the bird was in it's 'wobble'.

You might want to post of an average of your readings....as we all know the 129 readings fluctuate as the bird wobbles around.

Added a new reading to my post. But seems everybody's receivers have problems with bouncing between 63 and 76 SS. Anybody there that can get a reading of:D 68 or 70?

I will have to post up my numbers when I get home...but just for comparison this is what I got back on January 18, 2007.

TP 11 120 for 119 and unknown for 110.

I will post up more current ones when I get home later

Thank you rockandchelle. I was waiting for your post. So far ralfyguy, miked-c05, and rockandchelle have pretty much the highest. They are located in GA, OK and TX, so I'm willing to bet that people in AR, MS, TN, LA, and AL have similar readings.

Now we need to find out how far north these good readings go. We need reports from KY, MO, and KS and maybe south IL and IN. Everybody else is SOL with 129 and you'll need a bigger dish to get decent signals.

We replaced the 1000 on the store with a 1000.2

Our 129 signals went up 5 to nearly 20 points depending on transponders.
the dish 1000 is now being phased out.

I'm currently in the market for an HDTV and as such do not yet have an HD receiver. I have however installed a dish 1000.2 and picked up an HDMI cable as I wait for the manufacturer I want to purchase my HD set from to halfway correct banding issues with their newest LCD models.

One more thing to note is that transponders 31, 30 and 19 are all in the 80s and 90s. So those TPs must be running at full power, the others 6, 11, 22, 23, and 27 are the ones showing a big discrepancy depending on location so they must be running at reduced power.

Fellas,

Anybody know of a 1000.2 making it up to the pacific northwest? While not a big deal, I'm jealous of everyone with a single dish. As the dimensions of the 1000.2 are around that of the larger dish for up here, I hope it may be good for here as well. I was reading the install sheet and it can be configured with 3 DP duals on the included W bracket that is not compatible with the 1000. I have 3 legacy duals and a legacy SW44 and SW21, if someone knows of a spare 1000.2 without LNBs, I'll throw it on the roof and take measurements. The new D* "Slimline" is a fairly good sized dish, but without some homemade brackets, wouldn't accept DP or Legacy LNBs. In 2 more months, it will stop raining here and we all get the urge to go outside and tinker with something;-)

Fellas,

As I said, I'm jealous. I have the 24" dish for 129 and it works fine. I'd love to throw a 1000.2 and fine tune it on 129 and see what I get.

You needn't be to jealous because in my case I'm also using a dish 300 to pick up 148 along with a Terk HD-TVS Slim Profile Outdoor HDTV Antenna to pickup my HD locals on my 24" computer monitor. One way or another we all seem to find a way to add things to our roof profile. Incidentally I'm having better luck picking up HD locals with a cheaper Terk HDTVi inside antenna then their outside model and it cost one third as much.
