Shows on EHD are erased after watching! Known problem?

I have been away for a few days since I opened this thread. Thanks to all that responded!

From reading these posts, it looks like several people have experienced this problem but no one is really sure what triggers it. Some have reported that shows were erased even after they watched the entire show to the end, and then selected Done.

I think that losing shows from the EHD is a serious bug, and I think that all of us who experienced this problem should contact DISH and let them know. Otherwise, they will do nothing and the problem will continue. Does anyone have an email address to send the complaints to?

Now, I am somewhat reluctant to watch programs from my EHD for fear that they will be erased. Besides transferring the show to the internal drive before watching, does anyone have a suggestion on how to avoid erasure?

It always happens to me when I stop watching a 2nd program off the EDD. No problems any other time. I hit stop on the second program and a splash screen pops up listing the content from the 1st program I was watching. When I hit done, it goes back to the menu and it has deleted the 2nd program and increased the open storage space available.

I have 5 WD drives and have never lost a program or movie until L625 came along on my 622. Now I've lost 4 movies and am not terribly pleased about it.

I emailed tech last night about it and am rather reluctant to watch stuff stored on my EHDs as I'm concerned it may be deleted.

So, changing the channel prevents it? What, you just bail on the movie or whatever program it is and change the channel? Why not just press the live tv button and skip selecting Done to get back to the EHD contents list? That's when I lose archived programs, when I select Done after pressing stop...

Not sure if it present's it, just haven't lost anything yet.

Never had this happen to me but I never push done, I always hit the guide and switch to a "live" program when through watching something on the EHDD...

If you read my 1st post, pressing the Live TV button is exactly what I did and the show was erased!

Okay...so pressing the guide button and then selecting something from the guide works? I sure know that selecting Done after pressing stop is a bad idea...so far I've lost 4 movies that way...

Is it only happening to recordings from premium channels (HBO, Showtime, etc.)??

I've lost recordings from HDNet Movies, Starz, HBO and Cinemax, so it may or may not be a DRM-based issue, but none of them have been PPV movies and certainly none with "limited time viewing" (which I don't bother to purchase anyway and don't believe can be moved out to archive either)...

Last night I sent a bug report to Dish Network about this problem and I included a link to this thread. I hope that they take us seriously and fix this soon!

Well, thus-far, by pressing guide and selecting something from the EPG seems to work fine and I haven't lost anything more so far. So that seems to be a good workaround until Dish fixes this bug.

I reported it to tech via email yesterday as well, so hopefully they're hearing from people and working on a fix to this nasty bug.

I just put in a random channel using the numeric keypad from the 2nd recording. This stops the bad title screen from the 1st program I watched that seems to trigger the bug for me.

CMon E*! This is a pretty destructive bug. If this were a bug that let us watch blocked channels for free, I'm sure it would be fixed in 2 hours......

Between the HD channel delays (BBC America has been on an "any day now" status for 8 months), the equipment fee increases (including on two devices that I OWN for crissake), the "whole house fee" for DVR that doesn't include the difference in fees between DVR and non-DVR receivers, and this killer bug they are really trying to get me mad at them

It has happened to me more than once and only recently. I'd forgotten all about it until I saw this thread. I don't remember what buttons I pushed but it was at or near the end of the movies. I don't remember what recordings I lost so a restart wouldn't help. I guess I could check the available space before and after the reboot and see if it changes.
