The locals formerly on 61.5 seem to have moved to 110 transponder 3. I only have a signal strength of 80 but they are coming in fine.

There are several HD local channels here now.[/edit]

Only Salt Lake City, Houston and Tulsa are the only cities left with split locals

Thanks for the info. In passing I would mention that DC's HD locals are on 61.5

I have recently reported that my HD locals from 61.5 are pixilating badly. Dish took my report as a "New Problem" and initiated two trouble reports.

Anyone else seeing this?

Yes, the MPEG-4 encoders aren't doing the job at the present bitrates. Keep calling E*. The problems with DC HD LIL have been going on for two months.

Interestingly, we have not noticed any pixilation since about three hours after I phoned Dish on Saturday.

YES!! We really like WUSA-DT - the PQ is weak! It is really "soft" and even appears "murky" at times. When conditions permit, my OTA is much better; however, my OTA is really problematic. The poor PQ of the Washington, DC HD llocals is really a let down after the usually fine PQ of E*'s other HD offerings. I did send a email to E* about this - it's really sad.

doug,

What I find amazing is that our area is the sixth largest DMA in the nation and many of us are now in a situation wherein we cannot receive (digital) TV OTA to view network programming.

I live in Montgomery County. Residential area consisting of trees and two-story single-family homes. Nothing out of the norma for this area. All of us on my street get "poor" digital OTA reception. "Poor" means that of the four major networks, only one station comes thru reliably. (WUSA - 9)

Fox (WTTG - 5 is viewable rarely during the summer and sometimes in the winter. (Presumably tree leaves accounting for the difference.) WRC - 4 and WJLA - 7 are not receivable during the summer and only rarely during the winter.

The OTA antennas on the street rum the full gammet from rabbit ears to directional antennas chimney mounted with a rotor. (Mine :) )

I have peaked my reception with my rotor - there being a total of one degree in spread for the four stations.

I find it incredible that in a wealthy and large DMA such as DC that commercial networks are going to a broadcast system that will not allow a person in some areas of Falls Church, Montgomery and Fairfax Counties to receive and view their programming.

Adding to the sorry state of affairs is the fact that those of us using directional antennas do not easily receive PBS (WETA -26) digitally because of the need to rotate the antenna.

Hmmm. I thought they were recently moved over to 119? Anyway, it's raining over here so 110/TP3 is only at 73...whereas everything on 61.5 is over 100.

That is exactly what I am saying. The "main" locals had already moved to to E 10 and that was widely reported. I had not seen anything discussing the movement of the other SD locals that had been on 61.5. Ia m nots ure when this move took place but it was not concurrent with the first move.

TNG tony thanks for the added details about which sat and transponder each is on.
