Looks like things are going along well and the return to flight satellite is still set for October sometime. Hopefully E11 will be 2nd.

Sea Launch Mission page - Mission Recovery

The Sea Launch team is proceeding on schedule with all repairs and recertification of the Odyssey Launch Platform and associated launch support equipment. In September, we are expecting delivery of the Thuraya 3 communications satellite, which we will prepare for integration with a Zenit-3SL rocket. We plan to resume launch operations in October.

as requested, i sent an email to sea - launch's communications director, regarding e11. when or if i hear something, i'll pass it along.

I think that E11 was set to go up before D11. I feel E11 will be going up in late Oct/Nov and D11 will be Dec.

E* and D* stuck with Sea Launch so Im sure they both are putting pressure on Sea Launch to get em up.

FCC re-file for E11:

"Due to past and recent launch vehicle incidents, the projected launch date of Echostar 11 is not certain but could be as early as October 1 of this year"

This doesnt prove much, but I feel E* has every plan of getting E11 up before December and thats why I feel itll be up before D11.

Quote from team summit notes

Dish Network will be launching two new satellites by this December.

On these two Satellites they will be relaunching Dish Network in FULL MPEG4. All current Dish Network Channels will be available in full MPEG4. And everything will be receivable with just one 18 inch dish.

On these two satellites they will be able to offer the following:
200 LIL Cities in Standard Definion
HD Locals to 100 Cities
200 National HD Channels
1000 Standard Definition Channels
200 International Channels.

Again all on one 18" Dish with one cable coming into your house.

Charlie is very proud of this announcement and its another first for Dish Network. Other Firsts include...
First IRD (Intergrated Receiver, Descrambler)
First DVR
First Dual Tuner
First MPEG4
First HD DVR

The further they push back the launch of the new sats and the relaunch of the new mpeg 4 service will give Directv the advantage. I don't see how DISH can compete with them in the addition of hd channels if they don't get the new service up when they said by Spring of 2008. UNless they go to mpeg 4 on ALL hd this fall or by years end. I supect that this would be their plan all along . I remember that they said that last year on a tech chat , that all hd would go mpeg 4 by the end of 2007 . Then they could squeeze some more hd up on the existing satellites at 110/61.5 and the crappy 129 sat. IF they place 6 hd channels up on a transponder in mpeg 4 that should give them enough room to compete with Directv on the few channels that they will add by years end. Remember they still have the fewest national hd channels presently. BUt by next year unless they move to the new mpeg 4 service by spring they will fall behind and no longer will be able to call themselves the HD Leader. THey already lost sports to Directv , Hd is about all they have now to differentiate themselves from cable and Directv. IF Dish falls behind on hd they will lose that too and they might never recover their lead.

how to add 61.5
