SC 530 dvr- Is it worth it?

I have the 505. Ive been told to steer clear of the 530.
I cant stand not having a dvr for this setup.

Can anyone tell me what kind of experience they are having with this unit?

Is it worth the gamble?

Ive heard some horror stories about it.

Is Motorola coming out with a replacement?

Also, where could I get a deal for this? shipped to the states?
kusat and canam-kinda pricey for this.

You might want to check out digitalhome dot ca forums for some unbiased reviews from 530 owners. From what I can tell, the problems in the past have been the software and not the hardware. The last update seems to have fixed many previous problems. I know that my 505's can act stupid every once and a while but a front button reset seems to fix it every time. As far as pricing, I checked the major store sites and they all seem to have posted regular prices ($699 - credits). Maybe they will have some Xmas sales coming up. If you need someone to ship it to you let me know - we can probably work something out to help out a fellow member.

Oh another thing, other than possibly installing a larger hard drive, I can't see them replacing the 530 since it is mpeg 4 upgradeable and new features are rumoured to be added soon through software upgrades.
