SatelliteGuys.US DishNetwork Uplink Activity Discussion - Week Ending 09/29/2007

Why did the FEC change on TP18 not 20? If 20 went from HD to SD in 8PSK->QPSK, SR 21500->20000, should the FEC not changed on it from 2/3->5/6?

110 Tp20 Spotbeam 35 was listed in the tables as 8PSK 5/6 FEC 21500 SR with only KTVK on it, it is now listed as QPSK 5/6 FEC 20000 SR.

110 Tp18 Spotbeam 35 was listed in the tables as 8PSK 2/3 FEC 21500 SR with 6447-6449 on it, it is now listed as 8PSK 5/6 FEC 21500 SR.

Digi,

I think I've asked this before, but I don't remember if it got answered.

Do you know what the difference is between the TV designation and the mpeg2 or 4 designations on the uplink reports?

Basically to answer your question there are two diffrent flags for television on dish one is for mpg 2 and the other is mpg 4. Yes both digi and I can tell and we know what the diffrence is for both in the system tables.

He means:

5862 - SPEC1 EchoStar1 148W TP 23 ConUS beam changed from TV to MPEG2 SD (NA)

I think TV are mpeg 2 engineering channels, but I am not sure.

Phoenix has had HD LIL for a while, could the changes be to add the rest of the local HD? KUTP (MNTV) is going to have Suns games in HD. I don't understand why they would need to move the SD channels around to add HD.

I'm thinking you need to look at a bigger picture. Such as Tucson...

tsduke, I am with you on this one. It has been there a long time just showing HD Theater (Discovery). There must be something they are planning to do with that channel.

Anybody "in the know", KNOW? :hungry:

It's not a channel technically... just another number pointed to the same exact video stream as the standard HD Theater channel.

Possibly because they have retransmission agreements with the Tucson stations and not enough with the LV station to make it worthwhile yet?

I highly doubt it.

DirecTV has HD locals and retransmit agreements for all big four networks in Las Vegas.

Las Vegas

3 KVBC (NBC) - Sunbelt - no HD retransmit history with Dish
5 KVVU (Fox) - Meridith - good HD retransmit history with Dish
8 KLAS (CBS) - Landmark - good HD retransmit history with Dish
13 KTNV (ABC) - Journal - no HD retransmit history with Dish

Tucson
4 KVOA (NBC) - Evening Post - no HD retransmit history with Dish
9 KGUN (ABC) - Journal - no HD retransmit history with Dish
11 KSMB (Fox) - Belo - good HD retransmit history with Dish
13 KOLD (CBS) - Raycom - HD retransmit Dispute with Dish in Honolulu
