satellite problem

Hi All, I connected my dish 500 to a splitter then onto my reciever and when I go to view the channels I get some and not others. I have to go past the channel then come back to it then it pops up on the screen then if i change the chaqnnel when I come back to it the screen says no signal. Every channel is like that I dont know if it is a power problem or what cause you can see a channel one time then when you change the channel on the remote and come back to it its gone. My signal strenght is good like 89, 90. ANY HELP WILL BE APPRECIATED.

what kind of receiver?

Unless you have a specific LNB (DPP) and a dual tuner receiver (522,721, 622) you can't use a splitter (and what the 622, 721 etc use is a separator)
