Is there a chart that I can view on line that shows the direction the dish needs to point for the satellites? I live in the 62269 zip code area. Thanks for the help.

Thanks downriver. But I am just trying to get a general idea where the dishes point. In my area (St Louis) I think the dish needs to point generally in a SE direction for 110, 119, etc. But which general direction does the dish need to point for 61.5?

OK, thanks to all that are helping me, but I am not up to speed on this elevation, latitude, and longitude stuff. Here is what I do know (or think at least). I think in my area the 110, 119, 129 birds are Southeast. If I do get dish I want the Pentagon channel and I believe it is bird 61.5 or 148. I think I will need two dishes. I see bunches of houses around me that have Dish TV and some of them have two dishes and they are not pointing the same direction. So my question is if I want the Pentagon channel will I need two dishes and if so which way will they generally point to? SE, East, etc. Sorry for my lack of knowledge on this stuff, I am trying to learn. I have had it with cable and thinking of taking the plunge into satellite. I favor Dish TV over Direct.

You'll be one of those two dish setups, your 119/110 will be in the southwest of you. The 61.5 is southeast of you. 61.5 is where you'll get your HD and pentagon channel, you wont need 129 since 61.5 will provide the HD, however I could be wrong depending on whether or not your locals are on the 129.

Take the plunge, order dish up.

Wow, thanks rcdallas. That was the answer I was looking for. I sure thought 119/110 was Southeast. Thanks for setting me straight. If I do it I am going to a long time local retail Dish rep shop and try to get it right the first time. I have been reading bunches of bad stories on 129 and hope he doesn't have to use it. Thanks again.

You can get the compass heading (azimuth) for a Dish500 by pressing Menu-6-1-1 and putting your zipcode in the appropriate blank on the screen and setting the satellite designation to either 110 or 119.

The dish software will then give you azimuth, elevation and skew for aiming the Dish500 from your zipcode area.
