Sat 105 with 2700 IRD

I have a Dish 2700 IRD that is now getting sats 110/119 from a dish 500.
I have a separate 33 inch dish and a Standard lnbf for ku FSS signals that I am trying to set up to get sat 105 as a separate input cable into my existing 2700. I'm just attaching & reattaching input cables for now.
When I'm in the dish pointing menu and I have my cable for sats 119/110 attached and I select sats 61.5, 121 , 129, 148 I get good signal strength from all those but of course with the expected "wrong sat" message. When I select sat 105 in the menu I get no signal whatsoever. There is another sat 119K in the menu that also shows no signal.
Does this indicate that my receiver will not show a signal strength from 105 when I attach its input cable and get it pointed correctly?
I know locating 105 is going to be difficult but I would like to be sure that the IRD will indeed show a signal when I get it right.

Is there a reason you are trying to get 105? Mostly locals on that location. Plus it uses a different lnb for which a 2700 need a special module to view it. May not be worth the time to not get much. If it's for your locals, E* would install for free.

Yes, I'm trying to get a local out of my area to see a weekly program produced by a friend.
Do you have any further info on this module?
Also why it is needed if sat 121 which is also FSS and I assume could be received by a 2700.

If you hook your cable from the 33" dish to receiver and select the 105 sat. you should get a signal---once you're on the 105 sat. If your locals are on 105 that's good, if you're hacking.........THAT'S BAD!!!

The reason is that 105, for whatever reason, uses a different symbol rate than any other Dish satellite (even 121). That's why you're not getting the "wrong sat" indication, instead you get no indication at all.

p1guy: I'd check with E* to see if that station is part of your local package. If it is, order your locals and have E* hook it up. They would put up a 105 superdish. It is the easiest way to do it.

Nope, not unless he's actually pointed at 105, because when he selects 105 it will be using the different symbol rate which none of the others have.

It sounds like the 2700 should be able to get the 105 when and if I hit it.
One day I'll modernize with Superdish, HD receiver, etc. but right now I'm trying to use stuff that I have.

You need a Dish Pro adaptor at the back of the receiver.

Edit: you also need a dish pro lnb for the 105 that is can be used with the fss signal.

Not necessarily, if everything is already legacy, a linear Ku LNBF would work fine. Rather than deal with the hassle of swapping cables, running check switch, and waiting for guide to download, you might want to put it all together with a SW64 to get 119/110/105.

I do however think I read somewere that in order for the receiver to see the 105 bird it does need to be dish pro because something to do with the way that the 105 lnb is stacked.

Anyway like I said you may be right and it is hurting my head thinking about were I read this at.

The ONLY repeat ONLY DishPro FSS (105/121) LNB made is the one used on a SuperDish. Sorry.

That being said, it IS possible to get the ODD transponders only when using a Legacy-type (industry standard) FSS LNB. The method depends on whether your FSS LNB has H/V outputs, or is voltage-switched.

If H/V, just try one or the other output - you should get odd transponders with one of them.

If voltage-switched, rotate the LNB 90 degrees in it's mount to fool it into thinking H is V. I'll leave the "why" for others to post.

You quoted me out of context.

When using a 100% Legacy configuration, what the OP has ("Standard lnbf for ku FSS signals") will work fine. To get all 3 birds at once MIGHT require the SW64, or might not.

Legacy Twin, his Legacy-type LNBF (single or dual output), SW21.

OR

Three Legacy-type Duals, SW64.
