Samsung Sucks -- Less (Updated!)

I have thought about that, but dont want the store to look bad.

She thought about reversing the charges for it on the credit card but that would harm the store not Samsung.

Scott, did you buy it with a credit card? Cards like American Express may have extended warranty coverage that you don't realize you may have. That could be another route to go.

Yes we did. And honestly we also purchased a 5 year extended warranty on it to. But since they say it can be fixed and they do their band aid fix each time, I dont want to be throwing away all my food every month and a half.

I have several Samsung TVs, a Samsung refrigerator, and a Samsung dishwasher. Knock on wood, but all have been good. Got the appliances in 2011 and the TV sets range from about a year to three or four years old.

I'm with you Scott. I had a Samsung Plasma crack right in front of my face 2.5 yrs ago. The tv was out of warranty but a screen should not just crack after 14 months on a $2500 television so i fought and fought and finally got reimbursed. They kept saying that it was physical damage on my part and upon investigating this phenomenon I found out that their Plasmas had a history of the internal screen cracking. Cnet had a forum where well over 100 people experienced this issue and they had many posts of what people had to do to get the issue taken care of. It took a while but after 9 months I was finally reimbursed. This was after they sent 2 techs out, agreed to repair the plasma and the replacement screen also cracked before they got it in the house. All through this they said we threw something at the screen. I will never buy a samsung product again. I just got an e-mail from google now stating that a video I made about my cracked plasma has hit 1000 views. Obviously this has happened to a lot of people and I believe your issue may be the same.

Just in the last month I was shopping for a refrigerator and my kids kept wanting me to check out the samsung because it was cool and they had so many of them everywhere we went . Of course I did not buy one and we ended up with a French door LG with the peekaboo door for quick access.

Keep fighting brother. Look on the net. I bet you are not the only person this has happened to. Be such a nuisance that they will pay you to go away. Call the BBB, your attorney general and the attorney general in New Jersey. Samsungs American home office is in New Jersey.

If the extended warranty is from PC Richards, and they have as great customer support as you say, they should take it back, and give you that credit towards a new, different, brand/model. Actually, most extended warranties have a "three strikes" replacement clause when an appliance isn't fixed after three attempts.

If you like those Korean style French Door models with extra drawers, LG is an option. I have a Frigidaire side-by-side which has worked fine for almost 4 years. My sister has a GE French-door model that she has been happy with.

Also, the credit card company is another avenue. Amex simply refunded the purchase price of a Maytag/Whirlpool dryer that died just out of warranty.

I had a Sansung LED TV just after they came out. Instead of having buttons on it it had a touch panel on the front. 2 weeks after the warranty expired the front panel wouldn't work anymore.

I called Samsung about the issue as I thought I was still in Warranty and after she punched in my serial number said nope your warranty expired two weeks ago, so sorry I am unable to help.

I should have learned then. :(
I had this same problem. I see the newer models they done away with this, at least the ones I looked at. They must have had numerous problems with it.
I went for an LG Plasma after that and love it.

The thing that really has me upset was that when we called Samsung after the third time of this happening THEY are the ones who said if it happens again we will replace it.

When it happened again my wife called up and they knew why she was calling and filled out all the paperwork over the phone. They were so good.

But then after that to deny and say sorry, just keep having it fixed is not acceptable for a top of the line product.

If you go to Google and Type Samsung Sucks and then select from today, look what #1 and #2. Took Google about 16 seconds to index it after I posted it. :D

Dumb question, but has she tried CSR roulette? If not after she calms down try again. I hate that more than anything when you call a company about something and get a minimum wage paid CSR, that acts as if they own the company. Most of them don't care though if they make the company look bad, it ain't their company and they would rather be home smoking pot anyway....well maybe not all but you get what I mean. ;)

If Samsung don't fix this then I might have to do this to keep my food cold. :D :D

Scott,

I hope the kitchen is generally very pleasing for your family and yourself.

I think people make a mistake trusting a brand name for more than one type of appliance. Or more than two. That it is a mistake to figure that, in this case being Samsung, a company that make a great television can make a great everything.

Not true.

There should be a beer tap on that bad boy (even if nobody in the house drinks beer).

My second refrigerator died a while back because a mouse got into the ductwork in the back and plugged it up with a nest. It was running all the time but the internal temperature was very near ambient. I feel the pain of losing a refrigerator but the Samsung final response is entirely unacceptable.

Also, I'm a little nervous as I just bought a new Samsung TV to replace my old 2003 era Sony Rear Projection Set that finally died. Hopefully, it doesn't misbehave like your appliance. Refrigerators have always been problematic for me. I had one (bought in 2007) that required a $600 repair about two months ago, but that one is a GE....

I am pretty sure you will be OK. Very unlikely that the TV will ice over! :biggrin

Back when I was in MN a guy had a dispute with Ford. Parked the lemon in front of the dealer with placards and everything else and got out his sandwich board. They tried to get him hauled away, injunctions and whatever else. The city was hot to help the dealer since they are big political contributors. He was so peeved he fought it tooth and nail and the lemon sat at the curb for a couple months. Ford finally capitulated.

I have a friend who has owned an appliance sales and repair business for the past 30 years. He says that especially now with all of the electronics involved, that he would not buy any appliance NOT made by Whirlpool. He says the LG, Samsung, GE, etc... are not as reliable, and the parts change so often that if you own the product for several years before there is a problem, there may not be a part to repair it. Roper, Maytag, KitchenAid, Amana, Estate and others are made by Whirlpool.

Its funny you post this Scott, as he and I just had this conversation, and he blasted both Samsung and LG for their crappy appliances. He says they are working on them constantly.

Some home owners policies will pay for lost food in these cases.

I can see homeowners policies paying for lost food during power outages caused by natural events but not this case...

Don't some states require that parts be available for like 5 or 7 years?
