I had a Note 7 and liked it yet hated it at the same time. I was so happy when it was recalled and got an iPhone 7 Plus instead. The Note 7 was so SLOW. I hope the 8 is faster, even though I have no desire to get one.
So is anyone actually impressed by these presentations? You know what would impress me, making a phone that didn’t explode! Maybe if Samsung put less money into fancy marketing nonsense and used that for R&D and QC they wouldn’t have exploding phones and washing machines. Why does everything have to be such a big production these days? I can understand making a big deal about the launch of a product or even a 10 year anniversary. But come on, this is the seventh generation devices in its series, with nothing earth shattering to offer. Big whoop
I here ya. I’ve about had it with smartphones. The cost is getting insane, and the technology isn’t getting much better, in some cases getting worse. And on top of spending a small fortune for the devices, you get the privilege to paying a monthly fee, to be tracked, be targeted and be advertised to. They day I drive past a mall and get an alert on my phone for a coupon to save 10% at Macy’s or whatever stores are left in a mall, is they day I throw the phone out the window and be done with it all. I really wish Windows Mobile worked out for me. I consider that platform to be the anti-smartphone smartphone.
I’ll tell you what, last week I was without a phone for three days, from the time I sent my Nexus to eBay between the time my Pixel arrived. It was a beautiful three days. Didn't miss not having the thing one bit.

Microsoft doesn't know enough about smart phones to be in the marketplace. That's why they keep jumping in and out.
LG makes some really nice flip phones for those who need to be reachable but don't want to be tied down. The batteries last for days.
That's the thing, I'd rather not be reachable, I'd rather not be bothered.
The main purpose of a smartphone for me these days is to be able to have remote access to my small fleet of servers at work. Give me a modern day PDA/Windows Pocket PC device will a cellular data connection and I'd be happy. I'd be a Windows Mobile user right now if I was able to get the HP Elite phone I had to connect to my work VPN. I thought the Elite X3 was an excellent piece of hardware, and Windows Mobile 10 was a terrific operating system.

The Note 4 stands up very well to the newer phones overall because it was so much ahead of it's time with features, and because Samsung and At&t have kept it up to date. Things like Wireless charging, calls over Wifi etc are all there along with an excellent camera, best smartphone I have owned or tried. With the combination of the Sams Club deal and the Samsung deal (They can be combined) if I put it on NEXT I may get one and use the Note 4 as a back-up and switch from time to time as I do now with my S4. (Approx $180 to $220 savings from Samsung in accessories and $240 from Sams Club in gift card and no activation fee)

Does ATT support WIFI Calling on the Note now?
That was the reason I sold my Note 4 and got an iPhone 6Plus. The Note 4 just wouldn't work reliably with the microcell and I have no signal inside my house. ATT didn't support wifi calling on the Note 4 at that time. I loved the Note 4, but really have plans on getting a new phone for a while. The prices are ridiculous and my 6 Plus still works fine.
The Note 4 supports Wifi calling, mine does and works well. I got the update for that very shortly after that feature was initiated by At&t. There is a trick to get the Note 4 to work with the Microcell, it works every time for me. My S4 is more stubborn to connect.
