Sampling of Where the 811 Installs are Being Rescheduled

So you just have to be one of the "chosen ones" to receive it? :-) Maybe I should call Keanu Reeves to see if he can pull one out of the matrix for me? :-)

Thanks for the info bigdaddy, sounds do be pretty hit and miss on if your area has any.

I sent an email to their executive escalations department to see if that gets me any results, probably won't hear anything from them until Monday at the earliest, but I'll let everyone know what I hear.

This is a pointless thread and the title should be changed to something else. It doesn't matter where you live cause you want get a 811 before Xmas unless you order the HD in the box package.

Pointless threads can be your freind :typing:

The HD in a box is a good deal for someone not wanting the theater experience or someone looking to get into HD for the first time.

If picture quality is what you demand, then in my opinion the 34" would be better. If size matters, then go for the 40" RP.

I went whole hog and after months of comparing bigscreen rear projection Hi-Def spent $1000.00 more than I had intended, but with the investment, I will be able to enjoy HD for a long time without needing to do 'bigger-better-faster' in 6 months.

Got my 811 installed Friday afternoon as scheduled. :D Dispatcher called several times to ensure someone was home and to assure us that we would get an 811 install that afternoon. Everything went very smoothly. Dispatcher and installer were very polite and helpful. :o

I guess that between being Exclusive Customers and my wife giving them H--- after cancelling the first install, they decided to treat us better. I noted that the 811 had an individual air freight sticker on it. Sent from NJ to Denver overnight. Somebody cared. :o

The installer, a Dish guy, confirmed that the 811s are in short supply and he can't even draw one from inventory w/o having a valid and current Work Order in hand. He said they actually physically verified his Work Order before giving him the 811 he installed at my house; an unusual practice according to him.

I feel for you guys still waiting. I paced the family room often yesterday waiting for the install. The good news is that, with the exception of some startup software issues that are correctable, the 811 is worth the wait. The installer kept gushing over it. He said he had a 6000 and had been installing 6000s for a while, but the 811 was light years ahead of the 6000 in technology. HD TV is really impressive, especially in your own family room. :D

Good luck and happy holidays.

My install cancelled for the third time. Now on the 28th. Emailed Dish complaint to exec at dish again. Installer claims he has gotten no 811's at all from the Dallas dist center. He would not tell me how many orders he has or where I am on the list. He said Dish told them that they were going to stop taking new install orders until all back orders were filled. I told him I didn't believe anything he or dish told me. I guess I'm going to have to look at Direct & see what offer I can get.

My install for monday was canceled cause they have no 811's and 34 inch tv :( Corporate said they would call me monday and try to get an install time from 8am to 12 tuesday

Darn it

I hope 3rd time's a charm for my 811, not too optimistic now

I'm a new Dish customer. I started 11/1/2003 with a 301 receiver. I ordered the upgrade to an 811 in early December for which Dish eagerly charged my credit card. They scheduled an installer to come out 12/13 with the new receiver. He showed up on time, installed the receiver and left. After 10 minutes of viewing, the 811 completely lost the satellite signal. I contacted the installer and he concluded that the receiver was the problem and ordered a new 811 to be installed today (12/20). (We're a 1 TV, 1 receiver household, so that meant NO TV for 1 week!)
He ahowed up today with the new 811 and proceeded with the install. (He mentioned that this 811 was the last one in the warehouse of his company.) Everything went fine until he contacted Dish to download my programming. (Error 015 Acquiring Satellite signal...) again! He spent 2 hours checking my dish alignment, LNB's, wiring, cables, everything. He concluded that it was another bad 811 receiver. At least this time he left me with a 301. When he contacted Dish, the customer service representative said it would be mid-January before they could get me another receiver. At that point I exploded and said that I wanted my money back and that I was going to terminate my E* contract and go back to cable or D*. At that point the CSR bounced me to what I assume was an "Account Retention Specialist". This person promised that they'd ship me a new 811 from a known good batch and schedule a third install for my 811 on 12/27. I agreed to give them one more chance. I'm not very hopeful, but I know the outcome will be one of two possibilities: either I'll have a working 811 next weekend or I will not be a Dish customer any longer.

Well I ordered 12/12 (new customer 811/301 free dish).

Had a 12/19 install. Was moved to 12/29. Just got a message, moved to 1/8/04.

I am getting really pissed. Have been 3 weeks without anything but the 1 channel I get OTA. But feel like DISH has be over a barrel because if I want the most HD it is them. I could get DirectTv if I was willing to skip HDCBS (.

Anyone know if I can at least get some kind of better deal out of dish for the crappy customer service?

I had one cancelled install on 12/22, rescheduled to 12/26 and the Dish installer showed up and did the install. He told me that the local Dish installers have 811's but the subcontractors are out of stock. This is in Connecticut. You could try calling around local installers to see if they have any 811's in stock, and also call Dish to ask if they are setting you up with a Dish installer or subcontractor.

Quite happy with the 811 so far. The dark picture (crushed blacks) on s-video needs to be fixed, hopefully in a future software upgrade. No problems with getting DD on Toslink as some have reported. The program guide needs to pumped up to 48 hours too.

Keith.

Mine was supposed to be installed today between 12-5pm. Got the call yesterday saying they were out of stock and was rescheduled for January 17th, 2004.

I will be very, VERY upset if they delay it again. I'm pissed off enough that the various contractors I am using to rebuild my new house have delayed my move-in date by over a week, and I don't need poor fulfillment policies at Dish causing more trouble.

Thanks for the suggestion, I am being installed by a Subcontractor I think, but I can't find any local dealers who have it either. But if anyone in the Southern California area knows of a retailer please let me know. My girlfriend is gonna be moving in soon and is very unimpressed that my house is still without TV.

my HD in a box will be installed in a room addition, with 5.1 already in (denon/sonance) - and no, this will be my second 811 install within a month..

but your right - pointless threads get everybody going.. 8)

so what's this? a friend of mine calls dish network last night to sign up for the free 811 deal knowing they will have to wait b/c it isn't available due to low supply. The csr says yeah you can sign up now but we can't install until 1/9/04 due to the low supply issue. WTF???? I sign up 12/22 and am re-scheduled for 1/18, and then my friend signs up 12/29 and gets a 1/9 install date? rest assured I have sent another email to their executive escalation team.

Wich btw I heard back from them, they gave me three free months of local channels. So $18 for a six week wait, yeah that sounds fair.... oh wait, that sounds like suck.

I'll post when/if I hear back again....

Didn't they tell you...

Your free months STARTED the day you signed up. Hahahaha! :superlol:

Burbank California here, and i've been rescheduled from the original date of 12/29, to 1/19. I'm not a happy camper, and Dish is damned lucky that Direct TV's HD promotions suck.....

actually speaking of the three free months starting now, I have this big fear I'll get a bill for service before its even installed.... I'll be mega pissed if that's the case... mega pissed...

Purchased 811 through DISH on 12/8 and I got two calls on 12/30 about my install date the next date. FIRST call was a called by a computer to confirm/remind me of the install the next day. The second call I received from DISH was to inform me that they were out of 811 receivers and that the new date of the install was nearly 2 weeks away!

Wondering what had happen to the 811 receiver I had bought 3 weeks earlier, I called DISH. Basicly I got the runaround from DISH and even worse they could not make any changes on my account (like releashing a DISH receiver that I had given to someone else for Christmas or give any credits) until this 811 receiver had been installed. CSR said their software would not allow any adjustments on my account until this install was completed. If DISH doesn't get their act together by the next install date, I may have to closed my longtime DISH account. It will be over month after I purchased this receiver that I may get this receiver in my hands.

After I was rescheduled for the 3rd time, I called Dish and stated that since my credit card was charged immediately, would I ALSO be billed for the HD package BEFORE I get the 811? The csr said that the charges would not occur until the receiver was installed and activated for the HD package. Now how come they couldn't have this same policy for the $199 install? Man, they got us where they want us don't they?

Well my scheduled install for was canceled for Jan 2, Austin,Tx. and changed to Jan 15. I just canceled my order and told them I would think about it down the line.

Getting Super Dish & 811 today

I live in a small town north of Mobile, AL. I ordered Super Dish for locals and 811 for HD package on 12/3 with a 12/22 scheduled install date. On 12/20, local installer rescheduled for 1/1/04 due to lack of 811 inventory. I checked with Dish this morning and confirmed that install was still on for today. Installer called to confirm that he will be here this afternoon. Amazing to me that they're installing on New Years Day.
