Digging around in some old stuff I found this:
Press
Menu
Press Dn arrow 2x
Press OK
Press Dn arrow 1x
Press OK
Press Right arrow and pause (up to 8x)
Press Exit 3x
Not sure if this is for the S9 or S10. I know on one the menu system is up and down and the other the menu is across the top left to right.
I think your steps/sequence was perfect. One good friend let my his spare S9 Openbox and I did try the sequence using only the panels fron buttons and got me exactly to the screen to change to format.
His set was on: 720p_60 if I remember correctly and works perfect with my TV.
I went back to my S9 and realized that any key-press on the front buttons of my set does not change the display from "NoCH", so something is physically (probably) wrong with my set.
I opened the box and got to the IRR'S on the little front panel and measured pins 2 & 3 and has 4.3 volts dc which is withing the 3 the 5 volts specs for a PRICE.
Now I have any idea of what to do next. Checked visually the board component for damage and nothing found including capacitors or overheating.
STANDBY/ON is the only button that works and switched the RED LED ON/OFF and makes the set reboot, and get to "NoCH "
If I could get a schematic maybe can check components and voltages. I have Multimeter for that and soldering iron.
Anyone with some suggestion or guess?
Now I am taking it personal and even I just ordered a new receiver I do not feel like letting this set beat me!
Bad part I really miss PBS until the new set arrives.
Thanks to all for your time and effort. It is incredible the experience, dedication, and attitude of members of this forum!
