Run ViP 622 and 311 from only 2 cables behind DP34

Hi,

I'm not sure this can be done at all but if I don't ask I won't find out.

I currently have a DP34 switch connected to 110, 119, and 61.5. 2 cables go to my neighbor's place and 2 are for me. At this point I want to try to avoid to install another DP34 since I live in a condo complex and need approval for an installer to work on the roof.

I would like to add another receiver - a 311 that I have lying around.

Can the Vip 622 be run off a single cable from the DP34 switch so that I can use the other cable for the 311 receiver?

Or is the only way really to get another DP34 switch installed (or swap it out with a DPP switch)?

regards,

Maxim

First of all, what you're doing is probably illegal. You and your neighbor should be on separate accounts, with separate equipment.

But, if you want to continue down that road, you'll have to replace the DP34 with a DPP44 and a diplexor at each of the dual-tuner receivers to use just one cable per receiver.

Or, you could run a coax from the TV2 output of the 622, back to your other TV. That's what I would do.

Hi,

Let me be clear: my neighbor is using 2 cables off the DP 34 switch and has his own receiver and own account. I don't think there's anything illegal here.

But it sounds like you confirm that what I want to do cannot be done.

As long as they each have seperate accounts it doesnt matter what dish they use to pull in the signal. This is common practice by DNS techs at apartment buildings.

As for your question, 2 you must run 2 lines to the 622 if you are using the DP34 switch. However if you swapped to a DPP44 then you could do this. If you add the 311 with the DP34 you would have to add another DP34 and run the new line to the 311.
