The bottom line for me is that they'd better make sure that the mpeg4 receivers work, and that the mpeg4 DVRs work at least as well as the current TiVos and are readily available to anyone who wants to swap, before they even start to think about cutting off the mpeg2 streams.
I'm with you on that. I would not swap my HD-Tivo for just a receiver or a SD-DVR. Surely D* would know better than to try to do that. Well maybe not. I think/hope D* knows they need to at least match the HD-Tivo in features. Again I'm assuming and we know what happens when you do that.
The HMC is suppose to be end of the year or first of next year. But from what LonghornXP says he is hearing the stand alone HD-DVR is closer to being ready than we think.
