RTN Signal Strength AMC-9

I just happened to notice something regarding this specific TP for RTN on 83.0W.

Does anyone else see it?

Recall that I have a hard time once in a while with 11.734 H on 74.0W? That is ONN's TP

I also have a problem with 11.735 H on 83.0W, RTN's TP.

Does this present some evidence to investigate?

I need to look for other signals from a H TP on another sat with a frequency between 11.730 and 11.740 GHz and see if they also have a strange problem.

I will let you know what I find, if anything.

AcWxRadar,

Sorry it took a little while to get back. Here are my readings:
11.720 V on 123.0W is showing me 76% Q
11.998 H on 97.0W is showing me 73% Q
12.188 H on 85.0W is showing me 80% Q
11.775 H on 83.0W is showing me 75% Q
11.735 H on 83.0 W is showing me 65% Q
12.176 H on 79.0 W is showing me 76% Q
11.734 H on 74.0 W is showing me 69% Q
12.055 V on 72.0 W is showing me 69% Q
11.998 V on 43.0 W is behind a mountain.

Does your CS-5K have v1.00 or v1.01 firmware? Mine had higher numbers when I had v.1.01, but it had flaky performance and crashed (maybe a corrupt firmware file) so I rolled it back to v1.00.

Iceberg,

Is that on your DS-2076 dish with your Coolsat 5K?

Is that your max signal Q % ?

You are not too far away from me being in Minneapolis area and me in Omaha area, so we could compare also.

yep that is on the Coolsat 5000 with the neutered meter (max is 82-85), Winegard dish and sadoun dual .4 LNB

AcWx=no i don't have any coolsat models to try out on RTN. Might be interesting as I've read in the past those seem to read lower on signal strength and quality than other brands. For the Icon, its the same as the Satopia, just came out after the Satopia model, has the same insides.
satopiausa.com......they hyped them big for awhile, but after a year there's only been one firmware update from them, and I emailed asking about minor bug fixes-never got an answer.
Don't know if they made a big splash with the hackers or not, but you rarely see them anyplace now, but are still avail. Very good, fast blindscanner, seen nothing except Traxis3500 that is close to blind-scan speed of mine.

Mine has v1.00 firmware. I have never been able to find that v1.01 to try it. I would assume if they made some improvement to the meter, it would change the quality readings across the board (all transponders on all sats).

My brother has the same software version as mine and his RTN quality reads MUCH higher, 20% higher or more.

Well, I'm glad to hear others are having issues and it's not just me. I've had signal quality only barely 30 recently on AMC9. Just at the threshold of freezing.

Then, I noticed Saturday morning that RTN East had color bars. I was worried that January 4th was about to happen again. Thankfully I get my local OTA RTN ok and was relieved when it was still there.

I do not have S2 capability here. How reliable are the S2 feeds elsewhere?

I had the same thing about a week ago with color bars on RTN east. I changed the freq. from 11735 to 11740 and it was fine.
