RSNs and Channel Mapdowns

I discovered something today I didn't previously notice. The Fox Sports Regionals only map down when there is an HD game on otherwise it defaults to SD. I thought that was pretty cool.

I entered channel 417 and the HD broadcast of the USC/Oregon game came up. A few hours after, I entered 417 again to check on UCLA and it went to the SD channel.

New York people only have SNY in HD and this map down stuff with RSN's happened after the end of the regular baseball season.

Now it seems that SNY-HD will just sit dormant until next April.

Am I right or wrong about this one?

Correct, SNY-HD has been blank now since September.

But they will still count it as "HD"!
