Now that the openbox receiver is the one being made and sold does anyone know if firmware updates for the openbox will work for the sat hawk/solomand? since ive heard that they are all the same.

I think, this is the same motherboard, only cover is diferent. On S9 I've checked both firmware, and it's working fine.
Oh, I was trying PVR 800 editor, it works like a charm... It is another idicator that PVR 800 = S9

Oh, yes, but only winrar will handle it, I added ext, but PVR800 editor will not open it - corrupted file.
How does this firmware compare to the June 30 firmware for the Sathawk? I couldn't use that version because I only use the composite output and that had a nasty green tinge to it.
I'm looking at it on a 10" TV set, composite output, and it looks pretty good. I've never bothered looking at the other firmware this way though.
I read on another board that this firmware DOESN'T fix the green tint. I haven't checked it myself -- the only time I hook up a composite monitor is to point dishes, otherwise it's HDMI or component for HD.
The only other thing that this does, that anybody knows about, is add another step to the Info button. The first click displays the same banner as before, but with an added progress bar indicating whether the EPG has been loaded yet. The second click displays a detailed EPG -- not that we have any such thing on most channels! The third click is what you used to get with the second click, the full signal meters and PIDs.

After reading Jim's post, I realized that I'm not using the composite input from the Sathawk. I have a Component to Composite converter, so that I can watch the same channel on several TV's , even with HDMI 1080 selected as the video out. The converter is what is feeding my 10" TV, so probably the green tint hasn't been corrected at all. Sorry for confusing information.
Do you have any Thrift stores near you ? I picked up a Toshiba 27" TV for $20 the other day, it has s-video and component video . Much improved over composite.

Thanks for checking it out for me. I currently have a 27" Sanyo flat tube TV that's in good working order and unfortunately, right now its out of my power to replace it - it's a little complicated to explain
I'll check out those stores anyway and look at some TVs too, because I'm in need of a cheap computer case anyhow.Anyhow, my Sathawk is currently slaved to my analog receiver that moves my dish, so I don't really need the motor control abilities of the Sathawk. Its just always nice to have up to date firmware.

About the R800-loader_Editor_HD.zip. Once I have made all the changes to the Sats list, Tps and Channels ( adding PIDS), what do I have to do to save the SAT changes to my receiver? When I did the Upgrade mode by USB the sat changes did not make it. Do I need to do a factory reset and then upgrade?

I'm using PVR800-Editor.exe on Openbox S9. this is how I do it:
1. Dump TP_PROG.DBS to USB
2. On PC; Rename it to TP_PROG.ABS
3. Open in editor PVR800-Editor.exe ( Open Bin File *.abs), and when prompted choose 'User Database"
4. Edit TP and channels
5. Save file
6. Rename it back to TP_PROG.DBS
7. Restore into Openbox
8. Reboot
The Channels , etc are in the user database of the TP_PROG.dbs file. To edit it you have to change the extension to ".ABS", so the editor can find it. Once you have saved your changes back to an ".abs" file, you exit the editor and change the extension back to ".DBS" . Put the file back on your memory stick, and insert it in the usb slot of the Sathawk.
Now do the Upgrade - misc files-and select the TP_PROG and Yellow button for GO. After it's finished, power down, and power back up the receiver, and the newly editted file should be in effect.

I guess I didn't make myself clear. My question is not about editing Tps and Chs, I do not have a problem with that, I'm just wondering why Sat names and positions changes are not transfered when doing an upgrade?
Odd ! I just changed a Sat name on mine and it transferred just fine. I've gone to renaming my birds , first with their orbital position, then Ku or C , and then name. ex. "91W Ku Galaxy 17" .

I know this receiver (Sathawk/Solomend/Openbox) will not display 4:2:2, but will it lock and blindscan a DVB-S2-4:2:2 signal?
If it could, then what info would have to be "guessed" at to enter into an Azbox for display.....FEC, QSPK/8PSK and pilot on/off?
