Decided to go ahead and go with the HD DVR now because it'll be awhile before we got locals in South Carolina. First call offered $399(full price for the reciever) with 3 monthly payments.

Called back when I decided to go ahead and got a lady who was great:

HD DVR for free and dish, only $19.95 S&H
HD channels for 4 mo's free
Showtime added for 6 mo's free

No wonder everyone loves CR.

You do realize your getting the old HDTivo and not the new MPEG4 HD DVR right? Its not available to us yet only LA at the moment!

Oh yeah. Thats why I was happy to get it free. I'll use that until we get setup for MPEG 4 over here on the east coast then I'll buy the new HD DVR.

Even more reason to get it (for free) IMHO.

Heck, even when the MPEG4 HD-DVR is available, I probably won't upgrade for a while. I'm dreading losing TIVO. I absolutely hate my r-15, so am not looking forward to the "upgrade" at all. My sense of urgency will be driven by the channels that I will be missing without the upgrade.

yeah, i get everything and more OTA.... I would consider doing it simply for NESN in HD, but baseball is almost over at this point. As long as my ST is in HD I will be happy.
