Resetting my DVR? Can't connect to broadband

Anyone had a problem getting your DVR to 'talk' to your DHCP server?

I had my DHCP server set to "manual" when the tech plugged in my DVR today.

However, now I set it to 'dynamic' (and I know it works..I plugged in another device to it and it successfully provided the IP info) but the DVR won't work.

It seems to 'hang' on the 'reset connection' screen and won't fill out the IP/DNS info. Keeps staying blank.

I have a bad feeling the DVR is stuck and needs a true REBOOT since the router was initially not set correctly but how do I do this?

Is there any way to reset the router to the point where it will look for a broadband connection 'fresh'?

The tech breezed in and out so fast today that I didn't get a chance to ask him this.

Any help please! I'm getting hit with $5/mo charge and I have no phone line so I was counting on the broadband connection working.

Has anyone had this trouble? DISH tech support doesn't cover this..and there's no way to enter the info manually so if it doesn't 'magically' connect, I'm stuck.

Is it possible I have a bad DVR is there a known issue out there in this situation?

Again, I have 2 other devices hooked up and they are now successfully getting their info dynamically from the DHCP server so I know the router is working.

I also swapped ethernet cables (no help).

I also turned router on/off (no help).

Thanks. I'm scannign the forums for some kind of DVR reset help but so far no luck.

Sorry,

722.

I was asking a different question on the other forum & got carried away & added this question as well. ;-)

PS If I hold the power button down for 10 seconds on the reciever, that won't reset all the initial satellite setup stuff will it? I'm not sure how the installer did all that. How about my password & locked channels? Will I have to lock those down again?

Thanks for your help :)

Pulling the power cord or holding the power button will not dump all your current settings.

Go ahead and do the hard reboot.

It could be the 722 cannot handle the setting and the problem is there and not with your router and server. Change your setting back to manual and try it again. Reboots do not reset your preferences, only hitting Factory Defaults will do that.

You guys did it again! The 10-second reboot solved the problem immediately. I guess there was some 'residue' from the previous attempt to talk to the non-DHCP router.

Thanks a million! :)
