Can I replace a dish pro lnb on a 500 dish for 110 and 119, with a dish pro plus for 110 and 119? I still have a 34 switch. thanks for any help

It would work temporarily but would ultimately fail. DPP lnbf's have a built in switch and thus should not be connected to another switch. You should either replace the DP Twin with another DP Twin or 2 DP Duals. If you wanna use the DPP Twin you should remove the DP34
It will work fine. You will not damage anything by hooking it to the switch. However, the 34 would not be necessary with the dpp lnb.
yes - the DPP will work with both a DP34 and a DP44
NO - it will not last long it WILL fail (you're running a switch into a switch - any good installer knows this.
Do yourself a favor and replace the DP Twin with another DP Twin or 2 DP Singles/Duals, or use your DPP Twin and remove the DP34.

Those LNB's get hooked up to 44 switches all the time, when a customer needs more than three outs. The on-LNB switch is disabled when a 44 switch is present. If you want me to believe that it will fail, point me to the dish technical memo on that.
I have a DPP LNB running into a 44 switch and have for the past 5 years. Are you telling me I am 'lucky'... Yeah, right.

You can run a DPP into a DP44...but not a DP34. Our RSP frowns on using DPP's with switches of any kind..and our tech's are always complaining about having to swap out DPP's for DP's on tc's because they fail, and sometimes not long after they're installed. See page 15 of the DPP manual

I was able to use the lnb I had which was dish pro and ran it into the 44 switch to pick up 110,now I have EA and 110. I had to use the old dp34 and my 522 to locate 110 first, then plugged it into the 44 and did a check switch and it was there. I was unable to locate any sats going directly into the 44, but as soon as I tried it on the old stuff I found it in about 30 seconds. I can now get my locals in SD just in case 61.5 explodes
I've personally run into a lot of signal issues in DPP to DPP setups. We're not saying going from a DPP twin to a DPP44 switch won't work, we just don't know for how long or how well.
I have been using a DPP twin and a single lnb into a DP34 for 110/119/129 for several years with no problems.
The installation manual for the DishPro Plus LNB says that it is compatable with a DPP44 switch. As mentioned previously, the manual states that the internal switch is disabled when the individual LNB outputs are connected to an external switch. So according to dish's own documentation this should be OK.
What he said... He is 100% accurate. The Dish Pro Plus LNB is a marvel of technology.. Works with legacy equipment. Works with add on DPP44 switch by disabling the onboad switch when hooked to a 44 switch.. And works the normal way too.. It is a marvel.
Just my 2 cents here: no, a DPP Twin and DP34 is not an approved setup. Even tough the kid says he has that setup with no problems, he's been lucky. I've seen too many problems, first hand, with that configuration.

Why is it that "old" equipment has to be used to find the signal? I've also noticed this on some instanes?
Can someone in the know please 'splain??
That's a good question. A tech would have his equipment to find the sats without even hooking up to a switch, but for the rest of us turn the volume up on your tv and listen for the tone
After working for about 4 days the DP dual lnb did not work today. after I verified it still worked on my old system I decided to change the line to the other output of the DP dual lnb, well it's working again. Now I don't know if like some have said , it will only work for a little while or if that side of lnb was weak,that side still works with the 34 switch and 522. If the new side goes out I will just buy a DPP.
