I want to replace the 211 with 622 and the only way to do it is to have technician to come over and replace it for me. Is there a way to replace the 211 with the 622without tech coming over? I am capable replacing receiver myself and do not need another stranger coming over to my house.

If you want to buy the receiver from a place like DishStore (currently $450?) then you can do a DIY swap-out and activate it yourself. I don't know of any other way...

Keep in mind, the tech can/will change any equipment or run additional lines in order to properly install the 622 as well as check any connections. If he is a quality installer, I would allow him to do it, plus you can question everything he is doing/checking.

I have pretty simple setup and I was going to use the 622 as a dual tuner DVR. I have a Dish 1000 with DP PLUS DUAL TWIN LNB and I was going use the special dish separator to connect one line to Satellite 1 and 2 inputs.

This is the dish I have:

This is the separator I will use:

So all I would need is to replace the receiver, there would be no need to run anymore lines.

I am leasing.

When I called Dish, I asked them whether they can ship the receiver to me. The CSR said that the tech will need to come out and replace it. That is why I am asking the question. How can I make them to ship the receiver?

This is a easy swap. Let them come in and install the 622, run check switch, watch the OS load, authorize it, Then they are gone.
