Remote Control Range

Hi guys. I should be getting a Dish Network setup in the coming weeks, and I was wondering what is the maximum range the remote control for the receiver is? I'm talking the basic one, not UHF or whatever it's called. Just the one that comes with the basic receiver.

If it's like a 301 or something, and not a UHF remote, it's got the same range as any other remote you'd use for a TV or stereo or VCR. It's just infrared. So it's direct line-of-sight.

I don't know distances, but from my experience with the 311 and 522 (using its TV1 IR remote--I rarely use the TV2 RF remote), both have a longer range than most IR remotes. In fact, it doesn't have to be direct line-of-sight; the IR signal is strong enough to bounce off one or two surfaces and still work. I regularly use mine pointed straight up in the air; it works just fine with the 522, though I do have to aim it at my other equipment (TV, VCR, DVD/home theater).
