My Dad recently became a dish subscriber.
He has the DishHD Silver package with Boston locals.
Receivers are a VIP211 and a 625, and dishes pointing at 61.5/110/119.
Zip code is 01930 (boston area)

When baseball season starts, will he be able to get Red Sox games in HD?
What station(s) will they be on?
Will he need to add any additional programming?

I think when he had cable he was watching them on NESN (in SD).

I know this is probably a stupid question, but I'm a sci-fi geek and don't know much about sports programming options on Dish.
I searched the forums a little but RSN/MLB pass/etc has me a little confused.

Exactly.
The only way you'll see the Sox in HD under the current lineup is if they're on one of your local HD stations - or on ESPN.

Other than that - outta luck!

Thanks guys - that's the info I was looking for.
I'll tell him to keep his fingers crossed but not to hold his breath. :D
(hmmm... kinda like I've been doing with USB external HD storage for months now)

Im a Directv guy from Revere and no Im not going to start a D* vs E* war.

Seems I remember, in another thread Scott posted a while ago, that Dish was getting ready to activate local RSNs in HD.

If I had a hunch Id say Dish was going to activate them come spring time.

The other choices for you are comcast which has them and Directv. While Directv had NESNHD the picture was pixilated and unwatchable for most of the season. It wasnt until Bruins season where NESN HD on Directv looked great.

DirecTV, Dish engage in war of keywords
