What would you recommend for a 6 tv new customer install?

Would like HD and DVR, so probably the HR-34. The customer would also like to have DVR functions at the other sets, and HD at most of them as well.

Not sure how he should go about ordering at this point. Is the C31 out widespread? And how many can he use with the HR-34? If there is a limit, what other boxes should he get to supplement? I would say the regular HD box, as he could still watch recorded content, and it would be cheaper.

Advice?

The maximum of C31's that can be hooked to a HR34 is 3 of them. The website doesnt show them being used yet

It depends on how much recording they will do. You can go with a HR34 but the 5 tuners may be maxed out if you're working with a large family. 3 of the C31's get used...there is 3 tuners of the 5 being used. Record a couple shows and you're screwed. The pricing between the H25 and the C31 (reciever wise) is the same. The H25 has a tuner in it but doesnt have trick play (ie: rewind, ff, etc) unless you hit record on the show. The C31 will (but uses a tuner from the HR34)

If you get a HR34 that is $100. You can get a 2nd DVR for $100 too. Or 3 HD receivers are free

According to this:http://www.directv.com/learn/pdf/System_Manuals/DIRECTV/DIRECTV_HDDVR_HR20-34.pdf
you can register up to eight clients, which can be rvu tvs or receivers. It's on page 94. Does that mean you can connect eight, but only use three at a time? From the solid signal website, C31 boxes are $39. That may be a special introductory price.

Yes, you can register eight but only use three at any one time. Useful if you have rooms that are not used very often. Best config IMHO? An HR34, with HR2x DVRs or receivers in often-used rooms (remember that receivers can't do trick-play, only DVRs) and C31s in "visitor" rooms....

Re: Recommended setup for a 6 tv sys

I guess they're now in a predicament.. Wonder if they're going to make good on any that are already ordered.. Reminds me of the $99 HR24 fiasco on Amazon last year.. The company split the difference with me so I got it for $150

Sent from my Galaxy SII using some Tappity Talkity thing.

I don't think they are since they have notified customers of the mistake already.
